Since the twelfth century the first bullfights were documented as an act or public spectacle. Today consciousness awakening of people is a symptom of an overall global assessment, being partakers of the divine nature, we are a whole. "Only Right Here" symbolizes a new era, where there will be an extinction of aggressive activities, being embodied in what once was a cultural feast, and the great evolutionary step on a humanistic level.

Interview with Alan Saga on Only Right Here Knife holder

What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
The conscience evolves as well as the human being and goes through a process of collective transition, giving rise to new projections oriented to the welfare of society and the subjects that surround it.
What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
The project is an opportunity to express a sociocultural concept through industrial design and consumer objects giving them a significant symbolic charge.
What are your future plans for this award winning design?
Introduce to the national and international market a series of art object that consists of 3 pieces initially
How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
One thousand hours of 3D modeling plus 300 hours for the design of the injection mold.
Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
I always wanted to share the culture of my country, and I think bullfighting is a potential topic, with ideas and representative level. The start of this project was completely free, and of my personal inspiration.
Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
I received advice from a teacher to select the aesthetic language of the piece, conceptually I received feedback from many designers.
Who is the target customer for his design?
People fond of gastronomy, design, art, animal protection and bullfighting.
What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
The objective of the series is to promote culture through industrial design by replacing a daily product with another one of greater artistic content within the socially responsible context. Through the function of the objects, a visual metaphor is transmitted, which narrates a postmodernist theme giving a symbolic charge to the proposal.
How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
The name represents the awakening of collective consciousness at the humanist level.
What is the most unique aspect of your design?
The conceptual structure is a fusion of a sociological theme and a functional object, which results in a sculptural representation.
Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
It is a totally individual project, from its conceptualization to the design of mass production molds.
What is the role of technology in this particular design?
It is a fundamental part of the project, to develop the design both conceptually and technically.
Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
I interviewed people in favor of and found about bullfighting, with the director of a non-profit association in favor of the abolition of these violent practices and consulted the most conservative professional surveys Parametria (Mexico).
How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
I received good acceptance of the media and online platforms, both nationally and internationally. My project received the title to the best industrial design in the Iconic Design contest, made by the magazine Architectural Digest Mexico, this award motivated me to participate Internationally in this competition.
What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
This project gave me the opportunity to develop my own style to create a series.
Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
If the ego is the worst enemy of creativity, is humility the best ally?
