The designer sought inspiration from the simple elements and the purest form of design. His main concern was always the quick and objective reading of the information and always focused on the sensory. The elements he have chosen always work according to purpose, without being banal. The choice of colors and shapes strengthens the sense of concept, bringing the air of lightness and softness needed.

Interview with Mateus Morgan on Fly Boot Key Visual

What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
The main inspiration was the disruption of everyday elements such as marble and concrete.
What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
The idea was to bring the feeling of lightness that the product needed, using the floating elements in a round and smooth way to achieve this goal. At the same time these elements serve to focus on the main image.
What are your future plans for this award winning design?
The idea is to create a series, with other elements and bringing greater daring.
Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
It emerged as a need to show something new to the customer, even if it had not been requested. As well as showing the potential of 3D modeling techniques and their versatility.
Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
Initially it appeared as a personal proposal, but due to the repercussion the client wants to use in their graphic materials in the near future.
What made you design this particular type of work?
I live in a city that is considered the capital of man´s footwear, wanted to show the customer and other potential as 3D can help in advertising the materials.
Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
The main inspiration came from the artist Oleg Morozov and his abstract style. So did Roman Bratschi and Peter Tarka.
What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
The simple design and the ability of the image to expose the product without being appealing negatively.
Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
I used 3ds Max for modeling, Vray for rendering and Photoshop for retouching.
Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
Some people that helped was: Caique Fernando, Carlos Eduardo Rosa and Otávio Silveira.
What is the role of technology in this particular design?
Serve as a visual key for all graphic material related to the product.
Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
The research was very natural and based simply on the feeling and previous experiences.
What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
The main challenge was to leave the product in a natural way but at the same time bring the beauty that the product has.
How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
It was through an invitation received and after noticing the size of the competition and mainly the challenge of winning something so great.
What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
I learned how to better plan my time and division of tasks from start to finish. I also learned how to better balance the balance between natural beauty.
Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
I am happy for the repercussion of the art and to participate in such a great competition. I hope have several more.
