This book was conceived and planned to convey to a wider audience the activities of the scholars who established the concept of cultural heritage in postwar Japan. We've added footnotes to all the jargon to make it easier to understand. In addition, more than 350 charts and diagrams have been included in total. The book draws inspiration from the historical work of Japanese graphic design, especially using an archive of design trends that coincided with the time period in which the figures featured in the book were active. It blends the atmosphere of the time with contemporary design.
