Design, unlike art, needs to answer needs, to solve problems. It is everywhere, in everything we use, consume, create. The idea behind it is to focus on the user, deal with their experience, their habits, in order to improve and facilitate their interaction with things around them. Design makes you ask: why is it made like that? What solution does it bring?Different principles and ideas make a good Design, and they are main concepts that we always try, and need, to take in consideration when building a project, such as ensuring it is understandable, useful, aesthetic, thorough… actually, Design is not just a process, it is a tool, and it is all about helping to represent ideas and messages.Design is so much more than just aesthetics, it is the whole process of what we do, and makes us wonder about every step we take: is it understandable, does it make everything more clear to the user or is there a possibility it might cause confusion? But as essential as it is, care of Design should not be noticed in the end, and the project should almost feel as it wasn’t designed at all, as if there were no other answer, no other representation of this message, in the case of graphic Design and animation, it should feel coherent. For every project we have, the brainstorming, concepts, analysis, research, character and environment development, storyboarding all force us to question the relevance of what we are creating, and as you can’t do design for yourself and on your own, without communicating, we see design as surrounding ourselves with different people that think and create in many different ways.
