Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
It is a small company established in 2010 in Lithuania. Company specializes in highest quality audio equipment products – turntables, tonearms and their accessories. Company has design department.
What is "design" for you?
Design is a challenge to create better than we had created yesterday.
What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
Technical minimalism which reflects in audio equipment design of 1935 – 1939 years and 1980 – 1989 years periods.
What was the first thing you designed for a company?
The firs design of our company was a tonearm called 'Reed 2A'.
When do you feel the most creative?
We feet the most creative when we receive recognition for ours designs.
When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
Visual attractiveness and it’s adaptation in the environment as an art accent.
How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
Design field is evolving to functional minimalism. Future of design is to reject unnecessary details.
When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
Our last exhibition was Audio Show Oto-Ten 2018 in Japan. Now we are planning to participate at Munich High End show at Munich, Germany 2019m.
How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
Art deco and Art Nouveau are our design styles. Natural wavy lines made us to explore these styles and to apply these styles some characteristics in our designs.
Can you talk a little about your design process?
Our design process is like climbing into the mountain, and at the same time already thinking about next higher mountain.
Can you describe a day in your life?
A day is a gift full of surprises. And with every day this gift is becoming bigger.
From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
Positive points of designer are a possibility of creating something unseen, creative process, recognition, reward. But at the same time creative process is complicated and it has some creative holes.
What is your "golden rule" in design?
Effort is not a result. The result must satisfy yourself at first and then there is a bigger possibility that it will satisfy your client.
What skills are most important for a designer?
The most important skills of designer are: to have visual sensibility, dimensional/spatial thinking and ability to apply this.
Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
The main toon is white plane paper and pencil. After that goes Solid Works software. The main inspirations source is nature.
What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
Objects of controlled minimalism we enjoy the most for their simple form functionality.
What are your future plans? What is next for you?
Our future plan is to influence as much as we can young designers to create new designs.
Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
We work as a team. This is the best way to learn new things from each other and to improve our selves as a team and as a personal designer as well.
Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?
We always have new works and new ideas, but we will talk about them when they will be realized.

Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?
In this specific field of audio equipment design we are working about nine years. Two of our team members have artistic education and one has technical education.
How did you become a designer?
It was an internal drive to be a designers and creators. All of our team members have a natural desire to create.
What are your priorities, technique and style when designing?
The most important aspects when designing products are: research of the idea, novelty and ergonomics. First we start from sketches by hand and then we rely on digital tools. We make detailed views with computer programs. After that comes a physical 3D printed prototypes.
Which emotions do you feel when designing?
When designing a new product we feel a sense of self-knowledge. Most exiting phase of the design process is the sense of having the final product finished. Designing fulfils us with new experiences with every new product. It is a pleasure to create something new that surprises people.
What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?
One of our team members has technical education and that influenced other team members as well, while designing technically complicated objects. This experience is very important for product designer to understand everything in technical details of your product and it will be a big benefit in the future projects.
What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?
Our company growth path is to involve some new products in our product line. Our future plans is to create other products of highest quality audio equipment, like amplifiers. We always have ideas that we are working on and we hope to realize them soon.
What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?
The main advice for young designers is to work and improve your skills every day. And don’t forget to study your environment and nature as the main sources of ideas.
You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?
Don’t be afraid of unexpected decisions and ideas, that’s how new things shows up, even at the beginning it may look strange.
How do you keep up with latest design trends? To what extent do design trends matter?
We are always studying latest design trends, but we have our own style and we try to develop this style in our product family.
How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design?
The main aspect of good design is visual attractiveness and it’s adaptation in the environment as an art accent. Common mistake in a design is unnecessary details and solutions.
How do you decide if your design is ready?
We say that our product is ready when we put it on the market. And after that we are not making any design changes. Then we know from our customers that our product design is successful or not. The other way to make sure that our design is good is to participate in a design competitions, where you can see the other professional designers opinions about your product design.
What is your biggest design work?
Our greatest design is a turntable 'Muse 3C'. Recognition and winning other worldwide design contests like 'IF Design Award' and 'Red Dot Design Award' makes us think that this design is great.
Would you tell us a bit about your lifestyle and culture?
Music takes a big part of our creative process. We are working in highest quality audio equipment design so the music is inseparable part of our work. We live in Lithuania, Kaunas city which is in center of our country. Sometimes we feel that cultural heritage of our country affects some design solutions.
Would you tell us more about your work culture and business philosophy?
We work as a team, because in this specific audio equipment design field it is necessary to have in your team members with different education and point of view. Then we can complement each other’s knowledge and create really good products.
What positive experiences you had when you attend the A’ Design Award?
Three main benefits of participating to A’ Design Award competition is: recognition, experience to talk about our product design and opportunity to be evaluated by the professional designers. This competition is an impact to create better designs. We are happy and proud to be a designers of the day.
