Interview with Wen Lung Cho

Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
I graduated from Taichung University of Science and Technology in Taiwan with a degree in Visual Communication Design and have been working in design and illustration ever since. Yes, I've always wanted to work in design and illustration
Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
At present, it is a studio that takes over the case and creates designs by itself
What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
I like the innovative style of illustration design that is different, because it is an innate talent
What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
Favorite hand-painted acrylic paint / The exhibition hall is my favorite platform / My favorite hand-drawn technique
How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
Diversification and perverse are evolving trends today, and the future of illustration design lies in constant innovation
Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
My creative inspiration comes from life experience, and I cultivate creativity by observing a variety of works
How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
The participant's angle depicts viewing and highlighting the colors is my style. Depicting the daily life of modern people has made me explore this style even more. Happiness is a characteristic of my style. As for my design approach, I look around more
Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
I live in Taipei, Taiwan, and it is inevitable to be influenced by culture, and the design advantage in Taiwan is that it is fully free and open without restrictions, but because of the small population, the demand is less and the scale is smaller

After understanding the story, communicate with the inviting unit, collect information and compose the picture, color

Dog home decorations, artist prints, Yoshitomo Nara's candy cans, designer chandeliers, Japanese designer clothes
From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
It is very positive to encounter a favorite case, and it is negative to reject the manuscript

Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?
I graduated from Taichung University of Science and Technology in Taiwan with a degree in Visual Communication Design and have been working in design and illustration for more than 20 years since then.
How did you become a designer?
I have always liked drawing and design, and I naturally went into design/illustration after graduating from design school
What are your priorities, technique and style when designing?
First understand the story, communicate, determine the presentation method, and then start composing the picture according to your own life experience or collecting information from the Internet, and manually coloring
Which emotions do you feel when designing?
When I started the idea, there was a little anxiety in anticipation and excitement, and the final product made me the most satisfied and happy.
What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?
The improvement of beauty and taste, because good taste creates the way you express
What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?
My learning and growth process is not much different from other design peers. I don’t want to be anyone. I just want to be loyal to my own design/illustration. I hope that design/illustration will be remembered instead of an individual, and I will continue to create in the future.
What is your day to day look like?
Get up, drink a cup of coffee, read current affairs online and start drawing. I like to watch movies when I'm bored, getting enough sleep keeps me in a good mood all day
How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design?
Good-looking and satisfying needs is a good design, to avoid exaggerated wrong design
How do you decide if your design is ready?
I often feel that the completed works can be added or modified, and sometimes it is a good way to listen to the opinions of trusted people.
What is your biggest design work?
The series of illustrations that Taiwan's high-speed rail opened to traffic is one of my biggest and proudest series of works, because it was selected from many illustrators, and I am currently working on ordinary creative projects.
Who is your favourite designer?
Miyazaki Hayao is my favorite master. Miyazaki Hayao has great inspiration and influence in aesthetics and protection of the earth's environment. Miyazaki Hayao is the guru I most want to talk to, but I'm glad he's still alive and well.
Would you tell us a bit about your lifestyle and culture?
Tokyo is my favorite and most inspiring city. Music is indispensable in the process of my creation. My own culture affects my creation to a certain extent. I am in Taipei, Taiwan. I am now doing design/illustration work, excellent The design of beautiful and satisfying works affects daily life and drives social progress.
Would you tell us more about your work culture and business philosophy?
Currently working alone, the most important thing in choosing a partner is someone who is sincere and willing to give
What are your philanthropic contributions to society as a designer, artist and architect?
I have done several public welfare design/illustration work. Cool for designers/illustrators working on humanitarian projects
What positive experiences you had when you attend the A’ Design Award?
One of the benefits of participating in the A' Design Awards and competitions is complete freedom of creation, followed by increased visibility, and the best experience if you can win an award. As for design awards, the biggest help for career and design skills is to gain the trust of customers. It's so cool to be the designer of the day

Touching people's hearts is naturally a good design/illustration
You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?
The value of good design is to touch people's hearts, and people's hearts are the most difficult to satisfy, so design/illustration that satisfies most people's hearts is worth investing in
What is your day to day look like?
Continue to travel illustration creation, and create for those who love me

Inspiration comes more from own experience and observation of the surroundings

The designer's natural and unique style is what I like, because the unique style cannot be achieved by others
