Interview with A4DH Branding Services

Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
Since childhood, I have been interested in calligraphy and painting, and aesthetics has always been a serious concern for me. At the age of fourteen, I received my first payment for designing a student magazine. That small moment gradually brought me closer to the world of design. Over the years, I came to realize that this passion was not temporary but my true language for communicating with the world, a language so important to me that I was even expelled from university because of pursuing it.
Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
After nearly ten years of working with various companies as a graphic designer and art director, our studio was founded in 2013. In the beginning, my main goal was to bring my personal sense of aesthetics and perspective into the projects, a space where I could both work and earn a living while enjoying the creative and playful aspects of the profession. Gradually, however, the results of our projects and their impact in the market led us toward a more professional path.
What is "design" for you?
For me, design means solving a problem that may seem simple on the surface, yet behind it lies the creation of beauty and the offering of a fresh perspective on the world.
What kinds of works do you like designing most?
I am most drawn to projects that allow space for creativity, where the client is engaged and involved in the creative process. Collaborations that are full of energy and interaction. Projects that have a consistent DNA across all their elements, yet remain dynamic enough to explore freely and leave a fresh imprint. Above all, I am most passionate about projects focused on creating brand identities.
What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
ChatGPT said: I do not limit myself to a specific style. Every project presents a unique challenge that calls for its own distinct solution. Depending on the needs of the project, the design might be minimal, classic, modern, or something entirely different. What truly matters is finding the solution that best fits the particular demands of each project.
What was the first thing you designed for a company?
The first project I completed for a company was designing a flyer and menu for a restaurant.
When do you feel the most creative?
When ideas take shape through the interaction and collaboration of a team with diverse perspectives and expertise.
Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
My top priority is functionality and addressing the client’s needs. Alongside this, I follow professional design standards, and ultimately, I strive to create work that I find aesthetically fulfilling and that reflects my personal vision.
What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
When a design reaches the execution stage, my first response is always excitement. Seeing an idea come to life is incredibly satisfying. After that initial joy, my attention turns to feedback and fine-tuning, ensuring the work continues to improve.
What makes a design successful?
A successful design begins with a clear and deep understanding of the brief and the client’s needs. The next step is choosing the right direction and style for the design. However, the truth is that all of this only comes to life when the designer brings the story to life through their own visual language, fueled by genuine passion and commitment.
When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
First, I carefully review the brief, assessing how well the design addresses the project’s needs and requirements. Next, I focus on creativity; examining how a fresh and intelligent idea responds to the given challenge and how the design exceeds expectations.
From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
A designer’s role is to introduce new currents of thought and perception by elevating aesthetics and shaping the audience’s taste. Additionally, considering the practicality of ideas and leveraging today’s technology allows us as designers to execute significant projects more efficiently and in ways that are more environmentally sustainable.
Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
My sources of inspiration are simple images and the everyday moments of life; everything I observe in my surroundings from morning to night. In addition, I dedicate time to studying and analyzing successful global projects.
Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
Living in Iran and the UAE has had a profound impact on my thinking and design approach, yet I have always strived to think beyond geographical boundaries. This broad perspective may be one of the reasons behind our studio’s success.
How do you work with companies?
Various companies turn to us to address their diverse needs in areas such as brand strategy and positioning, visual identity design, brand naming, packaging design, brand refresh, brand architecture, exhibition and booth design, motion design, and web design and development. These collaborations are built on a foundation of shared understanding, trust, and continuous interaction.
What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
My advice to companies is to do research before signing a contract, carefully reviewing the designer’s portfolio and past projects. True collaboration, however, begins the moment a two-way interaction is established; when the designer and the client come together with a shared goal. A successful project is the result of a thoughtful balance. Design should neither be sacrificed entirely to the client’s preferences nor should the project’s real needs be overridden by the designer’s personal taste. Only when this balance is achieved can the desired outcome be reached.
Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
There is no teacher better than hands-on experience with new and diverse projects. So roll up your sleeves and dive in without fear; you will notice your growth much sooner than you expect.
What is your "golden rule" in design?
Understanding the client’s needs and goals before starting the design process, and adding a unique and fresh contribution to our world while maintaining a balance between form, narrative, and the brand or product’s content.
Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
With the understanding that our presence in the commercial space demands speed and precise timing, project management in our team follows a modern and meticulous approach. We break each project into smaller components and, through regular interaction with the client, deliver the final output in the most efficient timeframe possible.
What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?
The answer to this question may vary depending on who is asking. Young designers are usually interested in understanding the challenges I have faced in past projects, where to start, and which path to follow. On the other hand, our clients tend to ask about the process of collaborating with us and the journey we take together from the beginning to the end of a project.
What was your most important job experience?
My most important professional experience has been developing a deep understanding of the client’s business, accurately identifying the project’s needs, and establishing effective and continuous communication with them. These three elements form the foundation of every successful project.
Who are some of your clients?
Our clients span a wide range of industries and sectors, from packaging, food, and consumer goods (FMCG) to the entertainment world, including films, TV series, music albums, and concerts. We have also had the privilege of collaborating with cultural and artistic festivals and events, as well as large businesses and organizations in sectors such as banking, pharmaceuticals, cafes, and restaurants.
What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
As I mentioned earlier, every project brings its own unique appeal through different challenges. However, I find projects particularly exciting when they have a broader scope and are visible on a national or global scale.
What are your future plans? What is next for you?
Looking ahead, we plan to extend our reach beyond geographical limits and increase our involvement in international projects. Collaborating with prominent global brands and providing innovative solutions is a challenge that truly excites us.
Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
Our work is entirely team-based. Designs are the result of close collaboration among a group of specialists, each contributing their perspective and skills to create a cohesive and impactful project. This interaction and team synergy allow ideas to fully flourish in their proper form.
How can people contact you?
