About Fragrance Lamp Lighting Object
Aromatherapy and design have met to create the product Fragrance Lamp, realized in 2019. The experiment and development process was based on creating a new material that emits the natural essence of lavender flower. Therefore, here is a lighting object that, in addition to its functionality, will bring those who give it a chance, closer to nature. Lavender, its unique texture and fragrance, are found in the Fragrance Lamp which is part of the sustainable design products.

- Unique Properties
- The concept is based on a new material with perfume, the natural essence of the lavender flower. Based on the principles of aromatherapy, a common therapeutic method, the object created emits a natural fragrance by which these lavender buds even if they are already in the state of preservation/drying, they do not lose their properties. The general idea is also to find ingredients from nature that can be manipulated to create new materials which can be more natural & sustainable.
- Dimensions & Packaging
- It comes in 3 different radius size shapes. The base of the product is finished in different curve cuts, depending on the radius size. The presented lighting object size : H 400 mm x W 360 mm

- Production Technology
- In addition to the lavender bulk seeds, was used pulp wood paste(recycled), based on cellulose, which becomes very easy to manipulate and model and which is a sustainable alternative. Overall, a lamp is made from 85/90% seeds / 10/15% wood paste. The lavender is from a romanian field located near the city Alba Iulia.
Eco Lighting possibility: Led light bulb. - Design Challenge
- The hardest part of the project was finding the way to produce the new material made from lavender seeds, which will withstand time and degrade beautifully. I made different experiments to create a strong fragrance.
- Project Duration
- The project lasted 4 months from the first sketches to production. It started in January 2019 in Bucharest and it ended in April 2019 in Bucharest. It was officialy presented at Romanian Design Week 2019 in May. After that, was exhibited at Sensoria - The Exhibition at Cluj Design Days & Timisoara Design Days, Romania, same year.
- Operation Flow
- Touch it for texture, and Smell it for perfume. The fragrance of the lavender flowers make the object flow. The user has the choice to leave the lamp as they find it, after unpacking, or use the water lavender for intensify the perfume when the light is off. The second option is that the user can choose which kind of light bulb prefer. If the user pick a bulb with warm light, the perfume of the lamp will feel more intense, without the need of the water essence.
- Research
- Essential element, lavender. Besides the fresh smell and the deep color, lavender is always associated with the idea of relaxation and well-being. The effects of lavender are also found and used in medicine. The lavender buds even if they are already in the area of conservation, drying, do not lose their properties and you can intensify the smell by spraying with lavender water the shape of the lamp when is not in the use mode. The material made absorbs water in a short time and if you use the warm light for the lamp, the smell intensifies quickly in the room. The insight is to connect for disconnect the stress.

- The summary of the general idea is the creation of new materials that emanate natural perfume, natural color, or even an unfinished natural texture. The successful experiment can have a great social and environmental impact. Finding ecological materials with properties both in shape, color, texture, perfume. Focused on consumer, the object is part of the sensory design through texture and smell and has an ecological purpose.

Design Interview about Fragrance Lamp Lighting Object
The summary of the general idea is the creation of new materials that emanate natural perfume, natural color, or even an unfinished natural texture. Finding ecological materials with properties both in shape, color, texture, perfume. Touch it for texture, and Smell it for perfume. The fragrance of the lavender flowers make the object flow. Besides the fresh smell and the deep color, lavender is always associated with the idea of relaxation and well-being.
I wanted to achieve the fragrance. I wanted a natural and sustainable material with perfume. Focused on consumer, the object is part of the sensory design through texture and smell and has an ecological purpose.
My plan in the near future is to implement my work worldwide. Right now, I'm working on my online store. I will focus on the business, and then I will start making new experiments and projects.

I created Fragrance Lamp because of the flower. I always loved lavender fields. The flower has so many practical uses and the perfume it's unique. Besides the fresh smell and the deep color, lavender is always associated with the idea of relaxation and well-being. From a statistic I realized that there are many consumers who love lavender for its properties, so I said, why not to create a lighting object that emanates that beautiful fragrance for their houses too.
Because I'm a young designer, I want to grow my business, and to develop other sustainable projects.

The idea is to create a boundary with nature. You can chose nature or at least you can be part of it. The connection is not limited.
I had another project before, where I created a different material but for the same category: lighting. From then I started to analyse different natural resources and integrate them into materials and shapes.
The consumers of the lavender flower, and people who love the fragrance of it. Everyone who wants a peace of nature in the living room, or wants to have a relaxful sleep. Customer can be also a person who prefer sustainable products.

I decided to submit my product to A Design Award competition, because I believe that it's a great opportunity for me as a young designer to participate at many design competitions, to promote my work and to be seen.
I keep saying to myself that the experiment matter most. If you want a good design in the end, you need to focus on the process.
After one year of preservation, the lavender lamp still have fragrance. That means that ingredients are important and the natural resources are powerful.
