About Blossom House Luxury Urban Resort Hotel
Blossom House is the landscape design of a resort hotel located in Zhongshan Mountain National Park in Nanjing, China. The design draws on the material language of the old city wall built in the Ming Dynasty. The elevation difference of the mountain landform is used to retain key trees and shrubs, and 74 kinds of ground cover and aquatic plants are added. Hard pavement is reduced and built with permeable materials. An infinite swimming pool with a misting system blends with the view of the lake. Platforms extend the interior spaces outwards and support social use.

- Project Duration
- Design Period: July 2019-December 2019
Construction Period: January 2020-September 2020
Location:Nanjing, Jiangsu Province - Operation Flow
- The project team performed rounds of on-site surveys and investigations during the early design phase, including 1 month of early investigation, 3 months of schematic design, 2 months of design development and construction drawing design. It took half a year for the design, 8 months for construction, and 2 years for construction maintenance and management. Through precise design control and several rounds of reviews by multiple parties, the design scheme was perfectly executed.
- Research
- The project team conducted rounds of on-site surveys and investigations to collect data like the size and vertical elevation of the site and to determine the primary plants' positions. During the design phase, the landscape design team exchanged ideas frequently with o parties working on architecture, interior and MEP to guarantee coordination between landscape and the overall hotel design. Material samples and construction technology standards were confirmed at construction drawing stage.
- Inspiration
- The project is the landscape redesign and improvement for a resort hotel nestled in Zhongshan Mountain National Park. The shanty town near Pipa Lake has been demolished and transformed for many times. The architectural facades, interiors and landscape of the resort hotel were redesigned and improved to cater to the operational demands of a high-end resort hotel, and to upgrade it from the single function of accommodation to a destination with diversified spiritual and cultural experiences.
