About Myoken Ishiharaso Hotel
In order to improve the livability, the space was roughly divided into three spaces: a bedroom, a living room, and a semi-outdoor open air bath. The semi-outdoor space is a luxurious and relaxing space where you can enjoy the natural hot springs that spring from the premises while feeling the light, wind, water, and the changes of the four seasons. The space is a timeless space that collects the best of high-quality natural materials and craft techniques by actively using traditional Japanese crafts, omitting unnecessary decorations.

Your innovative integration of traditional Japanese crafts within Myoken Ishiharaso Hotel's minimalist design has earned recognition at the A' Design Award - could you elaborate on how you balanced these traditional elements with modern spatial requirements?
I thought that by simplifying the space and using traditional materials as accents, the materials would be more noticeable. Japanese traditional materials are very delicate and many of them can be recycled, so even if they age, they can be replaced with new ones.
The semi-outdoor open-air bath at Myoken Ishiharaso Hotel creates a unique connection with nature - what inspired your approach to designing this transformative space that responds to seasonal changes while maintaining guest privacy?
You can enjoy the hot springs at any time in the privacy of your room. Although it is a semi-outdoor space, it is also air-conditioned, so you can stay comfortable all year round.
How did the 80-year heritage of Myoken Ishiharaso Hotel's main building influence your renovation decisions, particularly in terms of preserving structural elements while introducing contemporary design elements?
At Myoken Ishiharaso, we are trying new things in various aspects such as hospitality methods and cuisine, so it was inevitable that we would renovate the space.

- This hotel has a semi open air space where you can enjoy the culture of natural hot springs that has been passed down from ancient times in Japan. This space has a timeless design by eliminating unnecessary decorations and combining natural materials.

- We will stay at a hot spring inn and use the effects of the hot springs to treat and recuperate from illness. The design of the guest rooms is a timeless and minimal space, and the beauty of the lush canyon seen from the window is the main character, and the decoration is omitted as much as possible. Kumiko The powerful materials of traditional crafts such as lattice, Japanese paper, and natural stone stimulate the five senses. The semi-outdoor space has a hot spring and a rest space. You can enjoy the hot springs at your favorite time without worrying about your eyes. The breeze from the river heals the mind and body after bathing.

- It was a renovation of an old main building over 80 years old, so it was a challenge to a new design while maintaining the structure.
Also, the materials used for finishing were Japanese paper, wood, and stone, which are natural materials, so I asked each craftsman. - Research
- Soaking in a hot spring warms the body and expands blood vessels, especially peripheral blood vessels. When blood vessels expand, blood circulation improves, which makes it easier for fresh blood containing oxygen and nutrients to spread throughout the body, activating the function of carrying waste products and carbon dioxide in the blood. In other words, it improves metabolism and promotes the excretion of unnecessary substances in the body.

- Since ancient times, Japan has a culture of using the ingredients of natural hot springs to improve the natural healing power. We have created a guest room where you can enter a private hot spring at your favorite time 24 hours a day. The source of this hot spring springs from the immediate vicinity of the guest room, so it can be provided in a fresh condition.
