About BrightCell Lighting
BrightCell is a chandelier that comes out of a human, somewhere in all the vessels of the body. The main part of the chandelier consists of two layers, the outer one is made of glass crystal and the inner one is made of opaque white opal glass. Its two-layer and cloudy form evokes a sense of energy for the user and conveys calmness to the user and values the feelings of users. The reflection of light is seen inside the lighting and it shines and creates calm and soft light for the environment.

What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
The main principle behind BrightCell is the integration of light, air, and the human body into a single meaningful system. The design is inspired by red blood cells, whose essential role is transporting oxygen throughout the human body. I was interested in translating this biological function into a domestic environment, where light becomes not only a visual element, but a carrier of health and well-being. BrightCell reimagines the chandelier as a living, breathing object that actively improves the atmosphere of a space rather than simply illuminating it.
What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
My main focus was to dissolve the boundary between lighting and environmental care. I wanted to achieve a design where air purification feels natural and emotionally reassuring, not mechanical or intrusive. The goal was to create an object that visually communicates vitality and circulation, while functionally increasing air quality and oxygen perception in the home. Calm, balance, and subtle interaction were central objectives.
What are your future plans for this award winning design?
BrightCell has strong potential to evolve into a broader system of wellness-oriented lighting products. Future plans include developing variations in scale, placement, and filtration technology, allowing it to adapt to residential, hospitality, and healthcare environments. The design can also evolve through software updates, expanding its smart and responsive capabilities.

Your innovative approach to BrightCell Lighting, drawing inspiration from red blood cells, presents a fascinating biological connection - could you elaborate on how this cellular inspiration influenced your design decisions for both the outer crystal layer and inner opal glass layer?
The design draws directly from the cellular structure of red blood cells, with the outer crystal layer mimicking their translucent membrane and the inner opal glass reflecting their dense, oxygen-carrying core. This duality emphasizes light diffusion and transparency, encapsulating the functional elegance found in biology.
The dual-layer construction of BrightCell Lighting creates an intriguing interplay between transparency and opacity - what led you to choose this specific combination of materials, and how does it contribute to achieving your vision of conveying calmness to users?
The transparency of the crystal layer paired with the soft opacity of the opal glass creates a balanced visual contrast that diffuses light gently, evoking tranquility. This combination mirrors the harmony of natural systems, reinforcing the goal of emotional calmness within living spaces.
BrightCell Lighting's form appears to capture a moment of cellular movement - how did you translate the dynamic nature of blood cells into a static lighting fixture while maintaining that sense of energy and flow?
By incorporating fluid curves and an asymmetrical yet balanced form, the design captures the organic flow of blood cells in motion. This subtle dynamism is further emphasized through the way light interacts with the layered materials, creating a sense of vitality.
