The Moose Cabinet is a handcrafted statement piece inspired by a Moose and is designed to be a Fun-ctional piece (Fun and Functional). The intriguing feature is the plug and play accessories. Antlers for your keys hats scarves, bowls for your accessories, open and closed shelves for what you want to display and store; mirrors to check your smile. It has push to open shutters, Moose's eye acts as a knob for the shutter and has beautiful green stained internals which astonishes everyone as no one expects it.

Your innovative fusion of playful aesthetics and functionality in the Moose Multifunctional Cabinet has earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award - could you share the journey of transforming a conventional storage piece into this whimsical, animal-inspired creation?
The Moose Cabinet was born from a desire to move beyond mundane, boxy storage designs and bring joy to everyday furniture. Inspired by our company (Name Place Animal Thing) logo—a universal animal monogram that transforms when different horns or antlers are added to it. I wanted to create a piece that was both functional and whimsical. The result is a playful, unconventional storage solution that perfectly reflects our studio’s ethos of blending creativity with purpose
The green-stained internals of the Moose Multifunctional Cabinet create an element of surprise - what inspired this unexpected interior feature, and how does it contribute to the overall user experience you envisioned?
The need to have more fun in life was the core inspiration to add unconventional colors for the interiors. The intent was that the furniture should add an element of fun or joy for the users. Actually when people open the shutters for the first time, they are surprised by the green stained internals and they immediately get a smile on their faces.
How did your background in production engineering influence your approach to designing the Moose Multifunctional Cabinet's plug-and-play accessories system, particularly in terms of manufacturing feasibility and user interaction?
The green-stained interiors of the Moose Multifunctional Cabinet are my way of injecting an unexpected sense of joy into the design. I believe furniture should do more than serve a function—it should spark emotions. The vibrant green is deliberately unconventional, designed to surprise users when they open the shutters. That moment of discovery, where the unexpected color brings a smile or even a laugh, transforms a routine interaction into something memorable. It’s about creating a playful experience that leaves a lasting impression, aligning with our philosophy of designing with personality and purpose.

- Production Technology
- The Moose Cabinet is handmade by carpenters in a factory using Oak wood. The accessories were made by joining wood parts to turned metal rods.
Finisih: Italian Water Based Matte Finish - Design Challenge
- The Creative challenge was to not only break away from the stereotypical form/shape of boxy storage cabinets but also to make the cabinet highly functional. The trial and error of steam bending the Oak wood was the hardest and most challenging part, which wasn’t very successful in the first piece, but we are working on it to make it successful.
- Research
- The online and offline research study was done on furniture marketplaces and markets/physical stores to understand if there are any multi-functional cabinets in the market. Visual data was collected via websites and by taking pictures of products in retail stores and homes (personal network).
One of the insights was that the space above a cabinet usually isn’t utilized and a lot of daily knick-knacks, books, etc are just kept on the top surfaces of storage cabinets which eventually gets cluttered/messy.
That was the starting point to add plug-and-play accessories to the moose cabinet which the user can use as per their needs. - Inspiration
- The inspiration was to add fun to the boring mundane lifestyles and objects around you. The Moose Cabinet is a handcrafted statement piece inspired by the animal, Moose and is designed to be FUNctional piece - FUN yet highly functional.
Also in today’s times, with people’s lifestyles becoming more demanding & people looking at efficient uses of living spaces there is a need to have multifunctionality in the new products we are designing. So Plug and play accessories were added for the users. - Project Duration
- The Project Started in July 2022 & Finished in November 2022 and was exhibited at Raw Collaborative( Baroda, India) in December 2022
