About Base Drinking Glass
The design of the Base series focuses on the function of a drinking glass, highlighting the contrast between being empty or full. The glasses are made from borosilicate glass. Thin and delicate, but with a solid base with a lot of depth. The series includes three sizes: 200ml, 330ml, and 500ml, and is designed to be stackable. The packaging is made from recycled cardboard, emphasizing sustainability.

- Unique Properties
- The products of this product series can be described as elegant drinking glasses with a super delicate top and a chunky and extra stable base. They are made from borosilicate glass. There are three different sizes. 200 ml 330 ml and 500 ml. The essential design is based on a modular approach and is specifically designed to be stackable. It is all about the base.

- Production Technology
- The Base glassware series is made from borosilicate glass. The material is known for its strength, durability and temperature resistance. The glass can be moulded and crafted in a variety of very different shapes and thicknesses. It is an infinitely recyclable material that can be re-melted again and again minimizing waste and environmental impact. The packaging is made from recycled cardboard.
- Design Challenge
- The main challenge was the necessity to create a series of modular and stackable drinking glasses in different sizes that also explore the formal possibilities of the material and make a visual statement.
- Research
- The design process was based on conceptual and formal research aimed at understanding material properties and opportunities of the category.
Product development and refinement through traditional sketching and 3D modelling. - Inspiration
- The design of Base is looking at the basic function of a drinking glass and the contrast between its two states of being - empty and full. Delicate and light at the top and solid at the base with a lot of depth. The transparent material setting the stage for a great experience. So, is the glass half empty or half full?
- Project Duration
- The project was designed in Italy during the summer of 2024 as a quick side study for Officina Endorfino. An exploration and exercise in glassware design.
