About Xinhe Group Headquarters Office
Xinhe Group Headquarters is an office complex in Fuyang, Zhejiang Province. The site is surrounded by small hills and bordered by water on three sides. Six buildings of three to five floors are arranged along the lake and follow the terrain, which secures natural light and wide lake views for the office areas. The volume is divided into smaller parts and landscaped rather than built as one large block. The land was once a habitat for water birds, and their spread wings inspired the flying bird concept. Stone, wood, glass and metal are combined throughout.
Pengfei He's award-winning headquarters design represents a distinguished achievement in contemporary corporate architecture, wherein the built environment engages in profound dialogue with landscape elements to create an integrated campus of exceptional visual and experiential coherence. The work demonstrates sophisticated understanding of how horizontal architectural massing can achieve monumentality while maintaining human scale through careful terracing and material articulation, each progressive level stepping back to create inhabited outdoor spaces that mediate between interior and exterior realms. The architect appears to have drawn upon traditions of landscape-oriented institutional design while introducing distinctive formal gestures, most notably the dramatically angular pavilion structure that punctuates the composition with sculptural energy. Technical accomplishment manifests in the precise detailing of facade systems, where warm-toned metal panels establish rhythmic vertical cadences against expansive glazed surfaces that maximize daylight penetration and visual connection to the surrounding environment. The reflecting pool functions as more than decorative amenity, serving as a compositional device that amplifies architectural presence through perfect mirrored doubling while establishing a zone of contemplative stillness at the campus threshold. Chromatic relationships between the warm terracotta architectural elements, cool grey-blue sky reflections, and verdant planted areas create a harmonious triadic palette that shifts subtly with changing light conditions. - The Xinhe HQ is in Lihu, Fuyang. It's surrounded by small hills and has water on three sides. The building is designed to fit gently into the local landform.Inside, the office area makes the most of the beautiful lake view, offering a pleasant working environment. Outside, instead of being one large block, the building is divided into smaller parts and landscaped. There are six buildings, each 3 to 5 floors high. They are placed along the lake following the terrain, ensuring plenty of natural light and great views.The land was once a home for water birds. The way these birds spread their wings and their lively look inspired the design concept of a flying bird, which aligns with the client's goals.This HQ shows a new idea: office buildings can live in harmony with nature. By respecting and adapting to nature, the building becomes a link for a positive interaction with the natural world around it, demonstrating a new way of integrating architecture and the environment.
- Inspiration
- The land for this project used to be a habitat for water birds. The posture of their wings spreading and the sense of dynamism happen to match the client's ambition, so the design concept of the flying bird was thus determined. The Headquarter of the Xinhe proposes a new possibility, that is, the office building can interact harmoniously with nature. By respecting and conforming to nature, the building becomes a carrier for a good interaction with the natural environment.
