The defining moment came when I stepped away from the sofa and observed it from a distance, no longer as a piece of furniture but as a flowing gesture suspended in space. I realized that my eyes were unconsciously following its curves in the same way they travel through a line of Persian Nastaliq calligraphy—without interruption, without a clear beginning or end. At that moment, the sofa ceased to be an object and became an experience of movement.Throughout the design process, my intention was never to literally reproduce calligraphic forms. Instead, I sought to translate the silent rhythm, fluid continuity, and graceful tension inherent in Nastaliq into a three-dimensional language. The moment I felt that the sofa could guide the viewer's gaze with the same effortless flow as a handwritten script, I knew that the essence of Seylan had been successfully embedded into its contours.For me, Seylan is not a static piece of furniture; it is a frozen movement, a sculptural expression of cultural memory and the poetic motion of Persian calligraphy transformed into a tangible form.

I envision the Seylan Sofa Set as an invitation to reconsider cultural heritage not as a source of nostalgia, but as a living and evolving design language. In an increasingly globalized design landscape, there is a risk of visual homogenization, where products from different regions begin to look and feel alike. Seylan proposes an alternative approach: that regional identity can become a catalyst for innovation rather than a limitation.By translating the fluid rhythm and expressive qualities of Persian Nastaliq calligraphy into a contemporary furniture form, Seylan demonstrates that deeply rooted cultural narratives can generate new aesthetic vocabularies that resonate beyond their place of origin. The project does not seek to replicate traditional motifs; instead, it extracts the underlying principles of movement, continuity, and poetic balance and reinterprets them through modern design and manufacturing processes.I hope Seylan contributes to a broader conversation in which designers around the world feel encouraged to engage with their own cultural heritage as a source of originality and authenticity. The future visual language of international furniture design, in my view, will be enriched by works that are locally inspired yet universally meaningful. Seylan stands as an example of how a distinctly Iranian cultural expression can speak to a global audience through form, emotion, and human experience.

The Seylan Sofa Set could not have been realized through either technology or craftsmanship alone; its identity emerged precisely from the dialogue between the two. The fluid, calligraphic geometry of the sofa required a level of precision that only CNC technology could provide. The digital process allowed us to achieve complex curves, seamless transitions, and structural consistency while preserving the integrity of the flowing form inspired by Persian Nastaliq.However, precision alone does not create emotion. The hand-carving and artisanal finishing stages were essential in transforming a technically accurate structure into a living, expressive object. Through the touch of the craftsman, subtle refinements, tactile qualities, and nuanced details were introduced, giving the piece warmth and a sense of humanity that cannot be replicated by machines.On a deeper level, this hybrid process reflects the very philosophy of Seylan itself. Persian calligraphy is both disciplined and poetic, governed by precise proportions yet animated by the hand and spirit of the calligrapher. In the same way, the Seylan Sofa Set exists at the intersection of digital accuracy and human expression. The CNC process provided the structural framework, while artisanal craftsmanship infused the piece with emotion, character, and cultural memory.
