About Egera Electric Motorcycle

Egera is a new breed of electric motorcycle, built for the discerning urban professional who values time, style, and freedom. Agile and elegant, it redefines city commuting with zero compromise: no fuel, no noise, no parking drama, just plug in at home and go. Designed to turn heads in traffic, Egera merges modern performance with classic cues. Its proportions and stance echo the familiar silhouette of traditional motorcycles, creating a bridge between generations. It welcomes new riders with confidence and comforts seasoned ones with timeless design language.

Within the evolving landscape of sustainable transportation design, Timoteo Maffei's Egera Electric Motorcycle represents a thoughtful synthesis of contemporary environmental consciousness and enduring two-wheeled heritage, demonstrating how electric propulsion technology may be expressed through form language that honors motorcycling tradition while embracing forward-looking aesthetics. The design appears to engage deliberately with the visual vocabulary of café racer culture, that mid-twentieth century movement celebrating stripped-down functionality and rider-machine unity, yet translates these principles through the lens of twenty-first century material possibilities and propulsion technologies. One observes in the hexagonal patterning of the battery housing a subtle reference to honeycomb structures, perhaps suggesting both natural efficiency and the cellular organization of lithium battery architecture, while the exposed mechanical components speak to an ethos of honest construction where functional elements become decorative through their very purposefulness. The inverted front forks finished in warm gold anodization provide chromatic warmth against the predominantly achromatic palette, their technical sophistication visible rather than concealed. The photograph itself merits consideration as a document of design in motion, the panning technique transforming background architecture into abstract expressionist color fields that contextualize the machine within human-built environments while suggesting its capacity for dynamic performance. What might the relationship between tradition and innovation reveal about our evolving understanding of sustainable mobility?

Unique Properties
EGERA is an agile electric motorcycle, designed for stylish urban commuting. It's designed for professionals who want an easy way to get to the office, without limitations, saving time and money, simply charging in the home garage. And they want to be noticed when riding in traffic. Egera is one of the most compact E-motorbikes on the market and the liquid cooling system makes it unique.
Dimensions & Packaging

Production Technology
Various technologies were used, including 3D printing, welding, laser cutting, CNC milling, and manual sheet metal shaping. The battery uses state-of-the-art lithium cells. The aluminum swingarm helps keep the overall weight low and ensures excellent rigidity.
Design Challenge
The main challenge was the lack of reference points in Italy and Europe. Even Italian suppliers are not yet fully prepared for the electric car industry. Intensive work was done to ensure ergonomics and perfect balance, because on a motorcycle, these are crucial to the riding experience.
Project Duration
Started in 2020 in my 12sqm garage in Carlazzo, Como, during Covid. The motorcycles prototype has been tested on the airport track of St.Moritz in 2023, reaching 176kmh. Later in May 2024 the bike has been exhibited at Greentech festival in Berlin. In Aug 24 the motorbike has been exhibited in Villa d'Este, during an E1series event in presence of Will Smith and Rafa Nadal.
Operation Flow
Turn the key on and ride. Similar to a scooter, it is simple, no clutch, no gear box, no smell of gas on your clothes. Charging in the home garage with a simple 220V socket. No stress, just fun!
Research
Intensive research and development on the design, battery, electronics, and cooling system. Several traditional vehicles were studied, overlapping the design and hand sketches to define the preliminary layout and ensure proper ergonomics. Subsequently, thousands of hours were invested in 3D CAD and FEM simulation. Three physical prototypes were created.
Inspiration
The motorcycle's design draws inspiration from the 1970s school of motorcycles, such as Husqvarna and Honda. I launched the EGERA project, from design to construction of a complete, functioning prototype, during the Covid era. During that time, I reflected on how I could contribute with a concrete product to improving our quality of life, improving air quality in cities, streamlining traffic, and making electric mobility more attractive.
