About Park Life Sales Office
Park Life is a sales office in China with a total interior area of 860 square meters. The design combines sales functions with cultural exhibition and public leisure areas. A double height reception hall leads to negotiation zones, a stepped forum, a reading lounge, an art gallery cafe, and a children's activity zone. Sintered stone slabs replace natural stone to reduce environmental impact, and are layered with bronze finish steel, translucent onyx, crystal glass, and warm wood panels. Modular partitions allow later conversion into a community cultural venue.
Jin Zhou's Park Life Sales Office exemplifies the contemporary evolution of commercial interior design wherein functional requirements transcend mere utility to achieve genuinely atmospheric and experiential qualities that position visitors within carefully orchestrated sensory environments. The work demonstrates sophisticated engagement with the phenomenological traditions of spatial design, creating threshold experiences that transform the act of entering a sales environment into something approaching ceremonial procession. Through the strategic deployment of contrasting material temperatures, the warm luminosity of backlit panels set against cool dark surfaces, the designer establishes an immediate psychological warmth that welcomes without overwhelming, suggests luxury without ostentation, and creates intimacy within grandeur. The chandelier functions as both practical illumination source and symbolic centerpiece, its starburst configuration evoking cosmic imagery while its reflection in the floor below creates a sense of infinite vertical extension. The material palette reveals careful attention to tactile as well as visual experience, the ribbed panels inviting imagined touch while the marble desk presents itself as cool, substantial, and grounding. Art historical resonances emerge through the curved metallic trim elements that recall the sweeping lines of early twentieth-century decorative arts movements, yet these references remain subtle, integrated into an unmistakably contemporary vocabulary rather than quotation. The spatial sequence from entry through reception establishes clear wayfinding while maintaining mystery and discovery, the backlit screens functioning as luminous veils that suggest further spaces beyond while defining the immediate encounter. This work invites contemplation of how commercial spaces might transcend transactional purposes to create memorable experiences that honor the significance of threshold moments in human spatial experience.

- Production Technology
- The project combines precise construction detailing with a refined material palette. Sintered stone slabs replace natural stone to reduce environmental impact, while bronze-finish steel, perforated stainless steel, translucent onyx, crystal glass, and warm wood panels are layered through contemporary craftsmanship to create rich visual and tactile contrasts.
- Design Challenge
- The main challenge was reconciling the project's dual roles as a commercial sales center and a lasting public space. Balancing cultural symbolism with functional adaptability required extensive study of Chengdu's heritage, user needs, and sustainable materials. Overcoming these constraints resulted in a design that bridges tradition and modernity.
- Project Duration
- The project started in November 2023 and finished in June 2024 in China.
- Operation Flow
- Visitors move from a ceremonial reception hall into layered zones of negotiation, exhibition, and leisure. Transparent boundaries visually connect indoor spaces with park scenery outside, enhancing immersion. The flexible plan encourages spontaneous cultural interaction, transitioning seamlessly from a sales venue to a public community hub after completion.
- Research
- This qualitative design research explored how cultural heritage can shape future oriented urban spaces. Methods included site analysis, historical literature study, and user behavior observation. Data from local residents and cultural experts informed spatial planning. Results showed that embedding cultural cues strengthens emotional connection, enhancing both brand identity and social engagement.
- Inspiration
- The design draws inspiration from Chengdu's millennia old cultural legacy and Du Fu's poetic lines on "Jinjiang spring colors" and "Yulei's ever changing clouds." These metaphors symbolize vitality, continuity, and transformation, inspiring the space to become a cultural prologue connecting the past, embracing the present, and envisioning the future of urban life.
