About Ayon AI-Guided Health System for Home Use
Ayon is a home health system that provides guided coaching in fitness, nutrition, sleep, and daily habits. The system combines an application supported by artificial intelligence, a wearable tracker, and a core device with a camera. The core device has an aluminium base of 85 by 85 by 20 millimetres and a frosted acrylic housing that holds a wide angle camera and a light strip. Visual and voice cues guide exercises, meditation, and breathing. The camera can be tilted down for privacy. Modular hardware allows later upgrades without full replacement.
Oliver Steiner's Ayon AI-Guided Health System for Home Use emerges from the contemporary tradition of human-centered wellness technology design, where form language communicates both technological capability and approachable domesticity through carefully calibrated visual signals. The work demonstrates remarkable compositional sophistication in its arrangement of primary and secondary elements across architectonic stepped platforms that function simultaneously as display infrastructure and visual metaphor for progressive health engagement. The hemispheric primary unit, with its smooth white exterior and singular dark optical element, suggests an intelligent observational capacity while maintaining the non-threatening approachability essential for domestic health monitoring devices intended for sustained personal interaction. The accompanying wearable band introduces material contrast through its woven textile surface, softening the technological proposition with tactile warmth typically associated with traditional craftsmanship and personal adornment rather than clinical instrumentation. The chromatic program operates with notable restraint, employing an analogous palette of lavenders, cyans, and pale blues that evokes both the sterile precision expected of health technology and the calming atmospheric qualities conducive to wellness environments. This color strategy positions the system within a visual vocabulary that transcends utilitarian medical device conventions while maintaining appropriate associations with cleanliness, clarity, and professional capability. The rendering technique demonstrates exceptional attention to material differentiation, distinguishing between the smooth polymer of the central device, the brushed metallic connectors of the wearable, and the soft textile of the band through careful manipulation of highlight behavior and surface texture suggestion. The stepped presentation platforms introduce geometric complexity that elevates the product display beyond simple documentation toward aspirational lifestyle positioning. Viewers may find themselves contemplating how such thoughtfully designed objects might integrate into personal domestic spaces and daily wellness routines, bridging the threshold between clinical necessity and considered living.

- Production Technology
- The Ayon core device was developed using a user-centered design methodology, integrating iterative prototyping with expert feedback from fitness coaches and AI engineers. Its housing employs durable, aluminium. Advanced computer vision and biometric algorithms were embedded to enable precise motion tracking, while modular hardware allows future upgrades without full device replacement.
- Design Challenge
- The hardest part was uniting advanced AI technology with a simple, trustworthy design, lagency-free. Creative challenges included balancing technical accuracy in motion tracking with an approachable aesthetic that fits into homes. Obstacles involved limited production options for compact, modular hardware, strict privacy laws, and ensuring affordability.
- Project Duration
- The Ayon project began in zurich in january 2023 with the initial concept and research phase. Prototyping and user testing were conducted throughout 2024 in collaboration with international design and engineering partners. The first functional prototypes of the core device were completed in September 2025. Ayon is scheduled to be shipped in Q4 2026
- Operation Flow
- The Ayon core device is placed in front of the user and switches on automatically. The built-in camera and light strip guide the user through exercises, meditation, or breathwork with simple visual and voice cues. Tilting the camera down ensures privacy when not in use. By combining movement tracking, feedback, and mindfulness in one elegant object, it makes training more accurate, engaging, and sustainable than standard fitness devices.
- Research
- The research was applied design research. The objective was to create an affordable, holistic health coach. Using user-centered design, methods included interviews, motion-capture tests, and prototyping. Data came from wearables, cameras, and surveys. Participants were health coaches, physiotherapists, and everyday users. Results showed demand for simplicity and trust. Insights shaped Ayon’s modular design. Impact: accessible health support for society and a strong business case.
- Inspiration
- Ayon was inspired by the personal challenge of accessing professional health support, which is often expensive and fragmented. Motivated by the need for a holistic, affordable solution, we combined research in AI, biomechanics, and digital coaching to create an inclusive system that integrates fitness, nutrition, sleep, and mindfulness into one accessible design.
