About Digital Fashion Showcase

The installation at ComplexCon Hong Kong 2025 presented a retail environment structured through a phygital system combining spatial design and interactive interfaces. AR try on kiosks, embedded displays and a mobile pre order interface formed a continuous see now try now order now sequence. Curved reflective surfaces and multi directional openings guided circulation, while integrated data capture enabled real time feedback for demand based production, illustrating a hybrid approach to contemporary fashion retail environments.

FabriX World's Digital Fashion Showcase represents a significant achievement in contemporary exhibition design, positioning itself at the intersection of digital fashion innovation and experiential spatial communication. The installation demonstrates remarkable sophistication in its orchestration of architectural form, technological integration, and sculptural presence, creating an immersive environment that invites contemplation of the evolving relationship between physical and virtual fashion realms. The pavilion structure employs a restrained material vocabulary of white modular panels that recall both gallery aesthetics and technological laboratories, establishing a neutral yet commanding presence that directs attention toward the digital content displayed within. The large-scale LED integration presents a compelling avatar figure whose rendered qualities, delicate features, idealized proportions, and intricately detailed garment, suggest emerging possibilities in digital fashion representation and virtual identity construction. The accompanying sculptural element, a reflective biomorphic form that evokes both cellular structures and futuristic pods, introduces an organic counterpoint to the geometric architecture while reinforcing themes of emergence, transformation, and the fluidity of form in digital contexts. The technical execution demonstrates considerable mastery in lighting design, with the careful balance of display luminosity, ambient spots, and prismatic floor effects creating an atmospheric environment that feels simultaneously clinical and magical. The compositional arrangement establishes clear visual hierarchies while maintaining dynamic tension between architectural stability and sculptural suggestion, between the fixed presence of the avatar and the implied motion of the organic form. This installation invites viewers to consider how fashion presentation evolves as garments increasingly exist in both physical and digital manifestations, and how spatial design can create meaningful encounters with virtual identities. One might contemplate what new forms of aesthetic experience emerge when the boundaries between material and immaterial fashion become increasingly permeable.

Production Technology
The exhibition utilized AR-powered digital fashion kiosks, AI-generated narrative social content, integrated e-commerce systems and metaverse fashion platforms, Robox.

The booth environment featured reflective metallic finishes, LED lighting structures and custom egg-shaped kiosks fabricated using lightweight composite materials. The design methodology combined experiential space planning and immersive technology integration.
Design Challenge
A key challenge was validating a pre-order ecosystem for emerging designers that reduces overstock and enables precise allocation of materials and resources, while addressing continued reliance on physical garments for fit and quality assurance of consumers. This dependence creates resistance to digital-first fashion adoption. The project responds through immersive AR try-on and live event testing, bridging this gap and advancing trust, accuracy and acceptance of digital fashion experiences.
Project Duration
The project started in Hong Kong from December 2024 to May 2025, and was exhibited at Booth D07, AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong in March 2025.
Operation Flow
Visitors enter the booth section and explore collections through AR kiosks, from an open floor plan in multi-direction, customers can virtually try on garments in real time. They can instantly place pre-orders via integrated digital platforms after AR try-on, while discovering digital fashion items for avatars through a dedicated Roblox station. The flow guides participants from visual immersion to interaction, purchase and digital identity expression in a seamless experiential journey.
Research
Type of Research: Applied experiential design research.

Objectives: To validate phygital retail models.

Methodology: User journey mapping, prototype testing and live event implementation.

Tools: AR kiosks, AI storytelling content, digital commerce platforms.

Participants: Designers, visitors and Gen Z consumers.

Results: Increased engagement, real-time demand forecasting and sustainable consumption. Insights: Immersive technology enhances retail conversion, impacting fashion business models.
Inspiration
The project was inspired by the urgent need of fashion industry for sustainable transformation and evolving through digital application and to catch up with new consumption behaviours among Gen Z audiences. Observing the rise of virtual identity, on-demand production and immersive retail experiences, FabriX envisioned a future-forward event that bridges technology, culture and fashion while redefining how fashion is created, experienced and sold.
