Cu 29 Executive Office

CU 29 was developed around a simple question: can a workspace offer the comfort, privacy and atmosphere of a home without losing its professional identity?

The project was designed as an Executive Office Residence rather than a conventional office. Today, many executives spend long hours in their workplaces, host guests, hold meetings, work individually and occasionally need spaces for rest and privacy. We wanted to bring all of these functions together within a single environment while maintaining a clear and coherent design language.

The inspiration came from contemporary lifestyles where the boundaries between work and personal life are becoming less defined. Instead of creating a strictly corporate setting, we focused on designing a place that feels personal, comfortable and lived in.

Material selection played an important role in expressing this idea. Natural stone, wood surfaces and custom copper details were combined with a dark colour palette to create a calm and masculine atmosphere. The result is a space that supports different ways of working while reflecting the character and lifestyle of its user.

Our main focus was to make every square metre work efficiently while maintaining a strong spatial character. The project area is only 120 square metres, yet it needed to accommodate a reception area, executive workspace, meeting and dining functions, a kitchen, guest facilities, storage areas and private living spaces.

Rather than separating these functions with conventional boundaries, we aimed to create a natural flow between them. Privacy was important, but so was continuity. Concealed doors, integrated storage solutions and carefully planned circulation helped us achieve this balance.

We also wanted to challenge the perception of scale. One of the key interventions was increasing the ceiling height from 2.60 metres to 3.20 metres. This significantly changed the spatial experience and allowed the interior to feel more open and comfortable.

From the beginning, our goal was not simply to design an office. We wanted to create an environment that people would genuinely enjoy spending time in, whether they were working, meeting guests or taking a moment away from a busy schedule.

CU 29 was designed for a specific client and location, but the ideas behind the project are highly adaptable. We see increasing demand for spaces that combine professional and residential qualities, particularly for business owners, executives and entrepreneurs whose daily routines no longer fit within the boundaries of a traditional office.

For future projects, we plan to continue exploring this type of hybrid environment while adapting it to different scales, cultures and lifestyles. Each client works differently, so the concept is not about repeating a design solution but about applying the same design thinking to new situations.

The project has also encouraged us to further investigate how privacy, comfort and functionality can coexist within compact spaces. Many contemporary workplaces prioritise efficiency, while residential interiors prioritise comfort. We believe there is still significant potential in bringing these qualities together in a more balanced way.
