About O.boat Teakettle
O.boat is an effort to combine origami art with practical utensils. O.boat is a teakettle shaped as an origami boat. It is divided into three separate parts: the first part is the water container which is the bottom of the boat, the second part is where tea is made and it is placed on the top of water container and the third part is the closure of the pot. Interviews
Design Interview
What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
Origami is one of the most interesting hand arts ever, once we read an article about origami that was written by an origami professor, he said we can use origami for everything because it is everywhere and that was the sparkle of this idea. If origami is everywhere and we can use it for everything why not in the kitchen! We started working on a new teapot and kettle that is a concept of an origami boat. We also used colors that mostly represent the ocean and the sea to let you feel its content.
What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
This design is an elegant, beautiful teakettle which is a concept lies in the fusion of origami boats and a teapot and is a true pleasure to partake from.
What are your future plans for this award winning design?
We hope that this award can help us find investors to mass produce this design because every designer would love to see people using his design.
