About Near Light Video-Animasie En Dans

- Design Challenge

- Research
- This work is a multimedia video animation for screening and show, but it could also be part of a multimedia dance performance with a large LED panel on stage or within a gallery/museum installation. Through manipulation of the manual focus function during filming, a dreamy effect is captured to reveal a nostalgic sensation. The video footages will then be edited to match the musical texture. In the performance, dancers added another layer of meaning to the video animation and together created a touching performance on stage.
- Inspiration
- The inspiration of the project came from experiencing the transformation of Macao from a peaceful peninsula to a metropolitan city. As Reinsley Husson wrote in a review of Near Light: "Every life is heading towards an unknown destination - a journey of tragedies and triumphs that ultimately allows us to discover the world, and more importantly, ourselves."
