- The 428 candleholder design is part of a "Transitions" themed design collection that was released in year 2020. This theme was conceived as an exploration to transition a shape from a primitive form to a more intricate one while creating intricate curvy details on the designed object. The 428 candle holder starts with a square foundation base and advances through to pentagon, hexagon, heptagon and finally to its octagonal tip shape.

- The prototype was designed on a 3D application using curves tools. The brass tip is a later addition to the design to enhance the protection of the candle holder from heat. The tip is also housed inside the candle holder during the molding process.

Its name reflects its evolution from a square base to an octagonal shape, hence it gets the name 428 (4 sides transforming into 8). This concept not only showcases the beauty of the curves that emerge during the transition but also highlights the fact that design is also partially problem solving.
