The Kohler x SR_A collaboration embraces Samuel’s avant-garde artistic approach while honoring Kohler’s 150-year legacy of innovation and craftsmanship in the development of a new design language for water solutions. This new limited-edition faucet challenges how we engage daily with the form and function of an everyday object by pushing the boundaries of materials, forms, and colors.

Production Technology

To realize Samuel Ross’ creative vision, Kohler invited him to explore an advanced new composite material that offers boundless form, unexpected texture, and rich, saturated colors. A 3D-printed internal waterway was developed to accomplish the unique sheet flow effect. An embossed cast iron escutcheon plate celebrates our collaboration in an homage to Kohler’s history of material innovation.

Inspiration

Combining dynamic gesture with advanced engineering, Formation 01 takes a familiar object and reimagines it as a functional sculpture in Kohler's dynamic Neolast composite material.

Project Duration

This project was initiated in late 2022 with collaboration between Kohler and SR_A's studios in the US and UK, respectively. The project launched at Design:Miami in 2023.
