Production Technology: Adobe Illustrator/ hand drawn draft
Design Challenge: To integrate figurative graphics into font strokes, first of all, we must achieve recognition, and second, we must convey the conceptual graphics to be designed.
Research: Speech Bubbie is a graphic convention used most commonly in manga books during dialogues. Similarly, fonts connote emotions in writing.Realising the connection between these two graphic elements, designers borrowed the form from comic books to reformulate the structure of alphabets and Chinese characters. Strokes are simplified into generic forms of speech bubbles while still following the direction of the original strokes, therefore retaining the readability of the character.
