Sobre Dream Làmpada de Taula

Dream és una làmpada de taula dissenyada per proporcionar una llum ambiental suau. La base té forma de coixí i està feta de formigó, mentre que el difusor és una esfera de vidre bufat a mà a Venècia. El formigó sovint es percep com un material dur, fred i pesat, per la qual cosa la forma es va modelar perquè semblés suau, lleugera i càlida. Un mètode de motlle innovador i un formigó de gra molt fi confereixen a la superfície una textura uniforme sense bombolles visibles. La làmpada mesura 24 per 24 per 14 centímetres i utilitza una bombeta G9 regulable, de manera que la llum càlida es pot ajustar.

Tecnologia de Producció: Through an innovative molding method and a particular type of very fine-grained concrete, we were able to obtain a unique shape that breaks the shemes and the usual stiffness of concrete.
The diffuser is obtained from a blown glass globe, handmade by the best glass masters of Venice.
Repte de Disseny: We were looking for a clever way of using concrete as main material for a table lamp. Our aim was to disconnect from the cold and solid sensation received from concrete.
Recerca: Starting from a deep research on small table lamps, we focused then on understanding which could be the right kind of light source.
Because the aim of this product is not to be a reading lamp, but to be an ambient lamp, the diffused light is the right choice.
What consumers are looking for in this category, is something that can warm up the environment. So concrete had to disconnect from the cold feeling that usually creates, and light had to be warm and dimmerable.
Inspiració: Concrete as a material is always associated in the collective imagination with something hard, cold and heavy. In MrSmith Studio we believe that the role of the designer should be also to break the schemes and subvert the collective imagination, suggesting new interpretations.
This is why we modeled concrete to give it a soft, enveloping, light and warm shape.
Durada del Projecte: Development of the project took 6 months and has been entirely don in MrSmith Studio
Flux d'Operació: The project of Dream started with a deep research on concrete moulding techniques.
We've made several trials for defining the best material both for the mould, the concrete and the procedure.
The final result is a soft looking pillow, with a uniform fine grain an no bubbles visible.
