Promotion és una cadira de menjador feta de noguera negra nord-americana. El disseny s'inspira en la fibra transversal de la fusta, la superfície marcada pels anells de creixement de l'arbre. Petits quadrats de fibra transversal s'uneixen per formar un patró semblant a un tauler d'escacs. Una estructura d'espiga i mortesa personalitzada manté l'estructura estable mentre la forma es manté senzilla. En la producció s'utilitza gravat per CNC, i la superfície s'acaba amb oli de cera per a fusta. Les seccions tallades en angles diferents creen efectes de llum i ombra suaus. La cadira és adequada per a restaurants, llars i sales d'estar.

- The challenge is to keep the whole structure stable with a simple shape. To make it, the product has a customized mortise and tenon structure to keep the structure stable and add some decors to details. Sections with different angles present various light and shadow effects, presenting a profound feeling and soft reflective effect.
- Research
- If its end grain seat is compared to a chess board, this simple chair can be seen as a pawn with no dramatic shape. But even a pawn, as long as he keeps going, can become a bishop, a knight, a castle, or even a queen when he reaches the end line, which is called Promotion.
- Inspiration
- The product is inspired by the end grain (tree ring) of wood with unique touch and texture, unlike the section of conventional wood furniture. This Promotion chair is made of small end grain squares putting together in order with the customized mortise and tenon structure presenting the aesthetic feeling of chessboard, standing out from conventional wood furniture.

- The project was launched in Beijing in June 2019, completed in Henan in June 2022 and exhibited in Beijing's Caochangdi Art District in November 2022
