About The Art Of Community Espai Públic

The Art of Community és un disseny d'espai públic dins d'un desenvolupament residencial a la ciutat de Taichung, Taiwan. Les àrees compartides inclouen un vestíbul de sis metres d'alçada que s'obre a un pati enjardinat, un corredor d'art i una cuina de convivència. Un envidrament de 3,3 metres aporta llum natural i circulació d'aire a l'interior. El formigó minimalista es combina amb fusta càlida, mentre que les corbes orgàniques suaus substitueixen els angles durs, de manera més visible en l'arquitectura corba de fusta de la biblioteca. El taulell formal del vestíbul es va eliminar per crear un flux continu cap al pati i per fomentar la interacció entre els residents.

Unique Properties: This design transforms residential living into an art-infused community. It features a 6-meter lobby opening to a lush courtyard, an Art Corridor, and a Living Kitchen. Soft curves, organic forms, and expansive 3.3-meter glazing create a seamless, light-filled environment. It's a holistic ecosystem fostering connection and creativity, redefining modern family living beyond mere accommodation.

Production Technology: Guided by biophilic principles, the design methodology focused on dissolving the barrier between indoors and out. This was achieved through a 6-meter-high lobby and expansive 3.3-meter glazing, maximizing natural light and airflow. The material palette intentionally blends minimalist concrete with warm wood to craft a sophisticated yet gentle atmosphere. A key technique was favoring soft, organic curves over hard angles, most prominent in the library's unique curved wooden architecture.
Design Challenge: The primary creative challenge was translating the abstract concept of community into tangible architectural form. The design had to actively encourage social interaction, not just provide amenities. The key obstacle was overcoming traditional design barriers; removing the formal lobby counter and creating a seamless flow to the central courtyard were crucial decisions. Realizing the project's signature organic forms and soft curves also posed a significant construction challenge, requiring precision to achieve the desired welcoming atmosphere.
Inspiration: Inspired by the human-centric and biophilic principles of WOHA architects, the motive was to create a true community, not just housing. The design fosters a holistic lifestyle for young families by weaving art, nature, and shared experiences into daily life. This approach seeks to elevate residential living by creating an ecosystem where human connection can flourish through shared spaces like the Art Corridor and Living Kitchen, crafting a lifestyle rooted in aesthetic appreciation.
