About Ryujin Primary Function: Ilustrasyon

Design Challenge
Our challenge for this particular design aside from the output quality is how we make the audience feel the power of this character based on the stories, myth of Japanese culture, We put our best to portray an aggressive-looking subject combined with different elements.
Research
For this illustration, We researched more about the Historical Japanese Culture, and I also looked into the background of this character. Based on Japanese traditional art style, we combined our style and different ways to put this design together to show why this character is one powerful being.
Inspiration
Ryujin which in some traditions is equivalent to Owatatsumi was the tutelary deity of the sea in Japanese mythology. In many versions, Ryujin had the ability to transform into a human shape. many believed the god had knowledge of medicine and many considered him as the bringer of rain and thunder. This design is made based on traditional Japanese dragon imagery but we decide to come up with our own concept look based on our imagination, style, and aesthetics
