Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

I am a graduate student majoring in design.

What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

I have loved design since I was young and aspire to become a designer.

I aspire to become a designer

What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

I am a product designer and I hope to do more product design.

Do more design and participate in competitions like A’DESIGN AWARD.

What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

The difference lies in the depth of thought

What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

I think good design resonates with people.

What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

Good design can withstand the test of history.

What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

If I have time, I will continue to design the bamboo series.

What is the dream project you haven't yet had time to realize?

I haven't designed my own representative work yet.

What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

The secret of my design is the use of materials.

Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

I draw inspiration from masters such as Le Corbusier and Mies van der Rohe in the field of design.

What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

I like Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona chair, which has a simple yet aesthetically pleasing design.

What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

I am good at making bamboo series products, which give chairs a different expression through materials

How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

By studying the design of the master.

I haven't thought about this question.

How do you define design, what is design for you?

Design covers multiple fields.Design is the process of solving problems, it is a creative activity.

Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

My teacher introduced me and gave me a direction and method for design.

What helped you to become a great designer?

I am still on my way to becoming a good designer.

What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?

Looking for design direction, I think the concept of design is very important.

How do you think designers should present their work?

Diversified displays, such as online and offline.

What's your next design project, what should we expect from you in future?

I want to do a series of bamboo designs in the future.

What's your ultimate goal as a designer?

I hope to design classic products.

Looking for design direction, I think the concept of design is very important.

How does design help create a better society?

Solve problems through design and convey the beauty of the world.

What are you currently working on that you are especially excited about?

I was particularly excited when the product design sample was completed

I am particularly satisfied with the bamboo series because I overcame many difficulties in the design.

What would you like to see changed in design industry in the coming years?

I hope that in the future, the design industry can have more opportunities to collaborate across different industries.

Design is integrating multiple fields, and future forms of design presentation will become increasingly diverse.

How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

The time for me to design an item mainly depends on the project timeline.

When you have a new design project, where do you start?

I usually start designing from research.

What is your life motto as a designer?

Less is more.

Do you think design sets the trends or trends set the designs?

I think they complement each other and influence each other.

What is the role of technology when you design?

Technology is the icing on the cake.

What kind of design software and equipment do you use in your work?

I use an Apple computer for the design and PS for the software, AI, 3DMAX and other software.

What is the role of the color, materials and ambient in design?

They make the design more perfect and beautiful.

I just hope people like my design.

When you see a new great design or product what comes into your mind?

I would like to get to know this designer and draw inspiration from their experience.

My classmate is a partner.And I believe in co-design.

Which people you interacted had the most influence on your design?

My teacher has a great influence on my design.

Which books you read had the most effect on your design?

Design History, Art History.

How did you develop your skills as a master designer?

I am on my way to becoming a master designer.

Irrelative of time and space, who you would want to meet, talk and discuss with?

I want to talk to masters and hear their insights and thoughts on design.

How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?

I think it's difficult to become famous because there are too many outstanding people.

What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

My favorite product is MUJI. Its texture and design concept make me feel relaxed.

Please tell us a little memoir, a funny thing you had experienced as a designer?

The most interesting part of my design experience was the three-day journey from drawing to creating a physical model, which was a special challenge.

What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

As a creative design activity, I am very happy. I enjoy browsing different types of designs and finding inspiration from them.

When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

When I was very young, I aspired to become a designer.

What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

I think the development is fast and there are infinite possibilities in the future.

I am currently an independent designer.

Design covers multiple fields.Design is the process of solving problems, it is a creative activity.

What kinds of works do you like designing most?

My favorite works use natural materials, such as bamboo, wood, and rattan weaving.

What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?

My favorite chair is from the Song Dynasty,The chairs of the Song Dynasty presented a neat, concise, elegant and simple artistic style, with an approachable temperament.

What was the first thing you designed for a company?

My undergraduate graduation project.

What is your favorite material / platform / technology?

My favorite natural material is bamboo.

When do you feel the most creative?

I can extract a lot of inspiration from nature and inspire a lot of creativity.

Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?

The visual and functional aspects of design are both.

What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?

I think design is a dialogue with users, so good expression is important.

What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?

When I solved the difficulties in the design, I felt a great sense of achievementt.

What makes a design successful?

Passion and persistence.

From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?

Design is a purposeful social behavior, not an individual's self-expression.

When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?

The last time I participated in an exhibition was in 2019. In the future, I hope to participate in more exhibition methods, such as cloud exhibitions.

Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?

My design inspiration comes from traditional culture, and I believe that a profound understanding of tradition is essential for innovation.

How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?

My design inspiration comes from tradition, extracting inspiration elements from tradition as design elements.

Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?

I come from China, and Chinese culture has a long and rich history, which has had a great influence on my design.

How do you work with companies?

As an independent designer collaborating with the company.

What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?

When collaborating with a company, designers should have their own unique design style.

Can you talk a little about your design process?

My design process involves subtraction, starting with divergent thinking and then selecting a perspective to delve deeper into the design.

What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?

My favorite items are desk lamps, floor lamps, vases, screens, and chairs.

Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?

As a designer, one should have unique insights into the subject matter.

From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?

As a designer, the advantage is having a keen observation ability, but the disadvantage is sometimes being a bit sensitive.

What is your "golden rule" in design?

My "golden rule" in design is material testing.

What skills are most important for a designer?

I think aesthetics are the most important for designers.

Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?

I designed using the most basic software PS, ai,3dmax. I usually find inspiration from nature or museums, and establish a material library to facilitate my own summarization.

Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?

I will spend a lot of time researching and communicating with users in the early stage, and spend a small amount of time completing it later.

How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?

The time for me to design an item mainly depends on the project timeline

What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?

What I am most often asked is what I think is good about my design.

What was your most important job experience?

My most important work experience cannot be considered as work experience, it is my graduation project experience. Since graduation, I have never spent so much time designing again.

Who are some of your clients?

Some design companies.

What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?

I love themed design work the most, as it doesn't require aimless design.

What are your future plans? What is next for you?

In the future, I hope to create more designs that I enjoy.

Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?

Most of the time, it is self developed and designed.

Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?

What I am mainly working on is the design of the bamboo series.
