Father's influence. I grew up with a lot of videotapes of labels my father had lettering on at home. That was my first exposure to typography and how I got interested in design.

Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?

Father's influence.

I grew up with a lot of videotapes of labels my father had lettering on at home.

That was my first exposure to typography and how I got interested in design.

Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?

We are involved in seamless design work, from graphics to spaces, with a focus on packaging, including CI/VI. Our mission is not only to look good, but also to ‘accompany the user's life and maximise the value of the brand’.

What is "design" for you?

Things that enrich our lives.

What kinds of works do you like designing most?

Brand logo design and packaging design.

I like the process of incorporating the brand's philosophy into the design.

What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?

A design that is not doing anything special but has a strong presence.

What was the first thing you designed for a company?

Graphic design for a private museum, including the catalogue of an exhibition.

When do you feel the most creative?

When our design sparks a lively conversation with the client.

Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?

Does it properly reflect the client's philosophy and message?

What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?

Lots of anticipation and a little anxiety.

What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?

Great. Even better if the end user is happy and it sells even better.

What makes a design successful?

Thought.

If it is well thought out and the essence is grasped,

I can design all the way to the end without hesitation.

When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?

In an abstract way, whether the dots are connected to form a line.

From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?

Never use negative expressions that could attack or bring down anyone or anything in particular.

How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?

With the advent of AI and various apps, it has gradually lost its previous specialisation,

It is now possible for anyone to easily give shape to their images.

When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?

none in particular

Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?

Various things from nature.

How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?

We focus on simplicity, but with an emphasis on ‘blending into everyday life and being loved for a long time’.

We seek beauty that fits in with the user's life, rather than eccentric design.

Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?

Japan. There are many influences.

Wabisabi and Zen spirit have a lot to offer in terms of design approach.

The disadvantage is that I'm not very good at bold and eccentric design approaches, which is probably a national trait.

How do you work with companies?

Basically, I only handle the phases that require creative work and expertise,

The manager handles most of the interaction with the client.

This allows us to build a flatter relationship.

What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?

This seems like a difficult question to me.

Can you talk a little about your design process?

Basically, we spend almost as much time thinking as we do working on the design.

Everything else is constantly fluctuating from project to project.

What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?

Rembrandt paper house I bought in Amsterdam

Sony speakers (LSPX-S3)

A coffee cup from HASAMI PORCELAIN

Normann Copenhagen wall clock

rOtring600 ballpoint pen

Can you describe a day in your life?

Nothing special.

Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?

Take care of your clients.

From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?

The loss of the borderline between work and private life,

Both a plus and a minus.

What is your "golden rule" in design?

There is no set one.

What skills are most important for a designer?

The ability to be organised.

Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?

Pens and sketchbooks. I always use certain items.

Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?

I have a manager who takes care of it.

How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?

It depends on the client's scheduling.

If there is no set time, there seems to be no end...

What was your most important job experience?

Everything I have experienced at Curiosity.

Who are some of your clients?

Cosmetics Company and Food Company.

What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?

Brand logo design and packaging design.

I like the process of incorporating the brand's philosophy into the design.

What are your future plans? What is next for you?

Promotional projects in the city where I live now.

Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?

So far it has mostly been the latter, but in the future I plan to co-create with a team.

How can people contact you?

Chandon Rose 2020 Japan Edition Vinemballage · 10 spørgsmål

Chandon's philosophy is often a fusion of keywords with contradictory connotations, such as tradition and innovation. We derive a lot of inspiration from this.

Your innovative fusion of traditional Japanese cherry blossom viewing with modern wine culture in the Chandon Rose 2020 Japan Edition Wine Packaging beautifully bridges past and present - could you elaborate on how you developed this cultural synthesis while maintaining brand authenticity?

Chandon's philosophy is often a fusion of keywords with contradictory connotations, such as tradition and innovation. We derive a lot of inspiration from this.

The colorful fan motif in the Chandon Rose 2020 Japan Edition Wine Packaging creates a striking visual metaphor for the wine's mouthfeel - what inspired you to translate sensory experiences of taste into visual design elements?

This was also inspired by one of Chandon's important principles. The sharp foam texture is a very important element for the brand, we thought it would be most desirable to merge it with the elegant and sharp form of the fan.

How did your year-long journey developing the Chandon Rose 2020 Japan Edition Wine Packaging between Japan and Australia influence your approach to balancing local cultural elements with global brand standards?

We visited the region, but this project has a more Japanese element to it.We needed to combine it with French cultural elements, not Australian, there was almost no work to link it to Australian cultural elements.

The women in kimono holding modern wine glasses in the Chandon Rose 2020 Japan Edition Wine Packaging create a powerful narrative of tradition meeting innovation - could you share the creative process behind developing these specific character illustrations?

The theme of this design is a fusion of the Heian period and modern times. There are many tanka poems from the Heian period in which women are the main characters, and they are very modern.I set up the characters with the aim of creating a stronger fusion with the modern world.

What unique challenges did you encounter while incorporating elements from the Heian period into the contemporary design language of the Chandon Rose 2020 Japan Edition Wine Packaging, and how did overcoming these obstacles shape the final design?

The fusion of the Heian period and the present day was important, but the theme of the fusion of France and Japan was also very important. It was important to validate the Japanese side as well as the French side, so we spent a lot of time trying to land the balance between all of them in the best position.

The Chandon Rose 2020 Japan Edition Wine Packaging demonstrates remarkable attention to cultural sensitivity - how did you ensure authentic representation of Japanese traditions while creating a design that would resonate with modern consumers?

We did not try to faithfully convey the historical and cultural background, but sought the optimum balance to create a certain lightness and reach modern consumers by adding more fictional elements.

Your design for the Chandon Rose 2020 Japan Edition Wine Packaging earned Silver recognition at the A' Design Award - how has this international recognition influenced your approach to cultural fusion in packaging design?

I'm not sure specifically, but for me personally, I'm very happy if there are more opportunities to make Japanese culture as interesting as possible.

The prism of spring light effect in the Chandon Rose 2020 Japan Edition Wine Packaging creates a sophisticated visual dimension - could you explain how this technical achievement enhances the overall brand storytelling?

The seasonal setting of spring started when the brand linked the pink of Chandon Rosé with the pink of Japanese cherry blossoms. The keyword spring was very important for this project and needed to be emphasised, so we used an easily recognisable item - a fan - to represent the prism of light.

Looking at the market impact of the Chandon Rose 2020 Japan Edition Wine Packaging, how has this limited edition design influenced consumer engagement with the brand in Japan's competitive wine market?

Enjoying sake (alcoholic beverages) during Hanami is one of Japan's traditional events and is very popular among the younger generation. We have designed the product with a stronger sense of the event in order to reach this relatively younger generation, so I believe that there are more opportunities for them to pick up the product.

As the creator of the Chandon Rose 2020 Japan Edition Wine Packaging, what aspects of this design do you believe will inspire future approaches to cultural celebration in luxury beverage packaging?

I'm not really sure how it will turn out, but the attempt to combine the brand's philosophy with its cultural background was a very meaningful challenge for me personally, and I would like to try it again if another opportunity arises.
