About Existence Stuhl

Existence ist ein Stuhl, der zum Denken einlädt. Der Stuhl wird als architektonisches Objekt verstanden, das eine Kante definiert und Raum lässt, den der Geist füllen kann. Zwei Prototypen wurden aus Edelstahl gefertigt. Auf Existence zu sitzen erfordert Aufmerksamkeit und Muskelkraft – der Stuhl schränkt den körperlichen Komfort bewusst ein, um den Geist zu befreien. Jeder Stuhl misst 1000 mm in der Breite, 800 mm in der Tiefe und 600 mm in der Höhe. Die Prototypen wurden von Hand geformt, wobei unterschiedliche Techniken angepasst wurden, um höchste Präzision zu erreichen.

Unique Properties: Existence chair is a chair for thinking, a piece of architecture defines the edge and leaves space for the mind to fill. There are a pair of prototypes made of stainless steel. The sitting experience requires attention and muscles to participate in. Limiting comfort sets the mind free.

Design Challenge: Thinking about how to control the uncertainty of handmade, I have a strong passion for adjusting different techniques and getting the exact accuracy.
Research: Collecting Inspirations from myself, Starting with sketching, Making small scale mockups and deciding the design direction, Making real scale prototypes and adjusting design.
Inspiration: I think, therefore I am. Instead of designing a chair for physical comfort, I look for a chair reflecting me and the existence of my mind.
Project Duration: The project started in May 2019 in California and finished production in January 2021 in China.
Operation Flow: The Existence is to sit with people's attention and set their minds free.
