About The Engravings on Mount Yi Experimentelle Schriftart

„The Engravings on Mount Yi“ ist ein experimentelles Schriftdesign, das auf den antiken Steininschriften des Berges Yi basiert. Die Inschriften überliefern eine standardisierte kleine Siegelschrift, die nach der Vereinheitlichung des Schriftsystems im alten China verwendet wurde. Das Projekt umfasst die Standardisierung der Buchstabenformen, Informationsvisualisierung, Plakatgestaltung sowie ein Augmented-Reality-Erlebnis. Präsentiert wird die Arbeit vorrangig als Website, ergänzt durch gedruckte Plakate und dreidimensionale Modelle. Durch das Scannen eines Codes auf einem Plakat wird ein dreidimensionales Modell eines Schriftzeichens sichtbar. Ziel ist es, die traditionelle chinesische Schrift auf neue und klare Weise erfahrbar zu machen.

Design Challenge: The biggest challenge of the project was the consideration and design of the font structure, which took a lot of time for each character. In addition, the design of information visualization has been well thought out. The addition of augmented reality is a highlight for they.
Research: The project is part of a pilot study of ancient characters aimed at unlocking the mysteries of Chinese seal characters. They collected hundreds of data, yi Mountain stone as an example to study the character of seal cutting, structure, writing. The project has also aroused a response in the society. Many people who are interested in traditional culture think my research is very meaningful and interesting, just like a dictionary with carved characters.
Inspiration: Tablet inscription calligraphy is an important part of Chinese traditional culture. Project Duration: The project began in September 2021 in Liaoning, China, and ended in October. It will be exhibited at the Museum of Chinese Characters in November 2021
