About Mama Gemeinschaftsstuhl

Mama ist ein stapelbarer Stuhl, der für Gemeinschaftsbereiche wie Konferenzräume, Schulungsräume, Wartezonen und Außenbereiche konzipiert wurde. Der Stuhl ist mit oder ohne Armlehnen erhältlich und lässt sich zu Reihen verbinden. Eine Monocoque-Struktur aus Polyamid, verstärkt mit 20 Prozent Glasfaser, bildet den einteiligen Korpus, der vollständig recycelbar ist. Die Oberfläche der Rückenlehne weist abgerundete Mikroreliefs auf, die die Kontaktfläche verringern und die natürliche Transpiration des Körpers unterstützen. Die geschwungenen Flächen sorgen für ergonomischen Komfort. Bis zu zehn Stühle können vertikal gestapelt werden.

Unique Properties: Stackable, easy to connect, available with or without armrests, Mama is a chair for community ideal for conferences and training courses, but also for informal meetings, waiting and outdoor activities.
Designed in Italy by Baldanzi & Novelli and made in China by Sifang, Mama is a completely recyclable stackable chair with high technical performance, but which expresses simplicity, lightness and elegance.

Production Technology: It’s made with a monocoque structure in polyamide reinforced with 20 percent glass fiber. The backrest has an original surface characterized by rounded micro reliefs designed to reduce the supporting surface, thus favoring the natural transpiration of the body. The curves and inclination of all surfaces ensure maximum ergonomic comfort. The design of the armrests, as well as that of the structure of the legs and their particular inclination, have been conceived to optimize the vertical stacking of up to 10 chairs; the joint system has also been optimized to connect the seats horizontally both with and without armrests.
Design Challenge: Making a chair in a single plastic body has some technical difficulties due to the characteristics that a community chair must have. Calculating thicknesses, comply with all the international rules and standards and keep an attractive design is the real challenge.
Research: Analysis of chairs on the market with similar proposals and features. Our intent was to reduce the components to achieve the same goal.
Inspiration: The main source of inspiration was making a lightweight chair in single-piece. The seatback has a surface inspired by the surface of the sea.
Project Duration: The project startet in March 2020 in Ponsacco (PI) and finished in December 2021 in Ponsacco (PI)
Operation Flow: Mama has all the characteristics of the community chair: combinable in rows, stackable, with and without armrests.
