About Golf Klappstuhl, Klappbank

Golf ist eine Klappbank samt Klappstuhl, die vollständig aus Holz gefertigt sind. Der Entwurf kombiniert Elemente mit rechteckigem und zylindrischem Querschnitt, wobei die zylindrischen Teile so geformt sind, dass sie in einem ergonomischen Verhältnis zum menschlichen Körper stehen. Auch sämtliche Scharniere und Beschläge bestehen aus Holz, was den Stücken einen ausgeprägt handwerklichen Charakter verleiht. Die Verbindung erfolgt mit Dübeln aus Sucupira-Holz, das wegen seiner Widerstandsfähigkeit ausgewählt wurde, sodass keinerlei Metallteile erforderlich sind. Im zusammengeklappten Zustand bilden Bank und Stuhl kompakte Volumen, die sich mit einer Hand tragen und auf kleinstem Raum verstauen lassen.

Unique Properties: This design, try to achieve a relationship between the rectangular and the cylindrical elements, the latter having a special ergonomic relationship with the human body.
The folding bench and chair are made of natural wood, which guarantees great mechanical resistance.
All hinge and fittings systems are made with the same wood, giving the piece a more artisanal character.
The pieces are foldable, allowing it to be stored in a smaller space.

Production Technology: The Golf bench and the chair, which result from the introduction of a back element, have as their main characteristic, their constructive aspect and the fact that once dismantled they become reduced respectively to an easy-to-transport parallelepiped measuring 12x36x62cm (bench) and 12x36x76cm (chair).
From a construction point of view, it is used exclusively wood, for all articulating and fixing elements of the rectangular section pieces (95x17cm) with the cylindrical parts with a diameter of 35cm. Fixing is achieved using Sucupira wood dowels (more resistant) with a diameter of 10mm.
Design Challenge: It was necessary to find a type of wood able to connect the different peices of the design, granting it stability and rigidity once in the open position, assuring stability to the shape, paramount for the comfort in the sitting down position , together with the challenge of designing the interconnection mechanisms between the different parts of the design, assuring their longevity withou using metal parts

Inspiration: The traditional image of a bench resulting from the use of a segment of a tree trunk served as inspiration for the option of using rectangular and cylindrical section elements to compose this Design through wich, is intended to reach a relationship between its shapes and the human ergonomy.

Project Duration: The project started in February 2022 in Lisbon and Finished in August 2023 in Lisbon.
Operation Flow: The mobility dimension, and the physical characteristics of this bench and chair allows easier manual transport while allowing it a multifunctionality of uses.It should be noted that the cylindrical elements allow for an easier manual transport of both the bench and the chair, and that the pieces are foldable, allowing it to be stored in a smaller space.
