More About High Heel Church Lighting Design
High Heel Church is a lighting design for a shoe-shaped building in a seaside park in Chiayi, Taiwan. The structure is about 17 meters high and 11 meters wide. Nearly 300,000 small glass pieces and 101 light fixtures are applied to the steel frame. Sunlight makes the glass flash during the day, while the wind moves the small pieces naturally. At night, calculated light angles give the building the look of a galaxy and make the heavy structure appear lighter. A light show with music is presented every hour, controlled by a DMX Art-Net system.

- We want connect with this beautiful building in terms of texture and present a design coexist the nature of the park.How to shine the church how to galaxy church no matter day or night. And how to let people can feel romantic with the church.
- Inspiration
- For present galaxy.We use same material glass to connect with this church.Use 300K pieces glass and 101 pieces lightings to decorated structure.Sun shines will give dazzling light flash.Calculated the weight let win blows the glass will move naturally.At night,calculate light angle,the whole church present galaxy vision.The light spots make the heavy structural more light.Every hour we present a light show with a romantic music. People whether outside or inside can have a romantic waltz

- We get the basic information from the website first . Then we Interviewed local residents , their basic treatment of high heels church. We check the design before , which designs have disadvantages and which designs are good . We analyzed the light , the win , landscape vision , especially the combination of every angle of sight and surrounding buildings.
- Challenge
- How to connect with this beautiful building in terms of texture . How to break through the existing body, make the heavy structure light and not crushed. In the Park, during the day is a place where the sun shines brightly, in the evening there is a beautiful sunset and relaxing sea breeze, and there is a beautiful starry sky at night. How to coexist with the natural beauty during the day and night, And how to use the sun,the win and the sky in the night .
- Realization and Technology
- We used nearly 300,000 pieces of small glass and use 101 pieces lighting the make the church different. The Lighting control by DMX Art-Net System.
- Operation and Interaction
- Every hour we present a light show with a romantic music .(Shadow 2) Let the people , whether outside or inside of the church, can have a romantic waltz . The lighting design we create an immersive performance space , during the show people can walk inside the church , to feel relax , romantic and immersive experience here. We create the sound , lighting and smoke around the speace.
