FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COMO, Italy, April 23, 2021 /DesignNewswire/ A' Design Award & Competition has confirmed the Golden A' Design Award in the Interface, Interaction and User Experience Design category for M Genius Visualized Mathematical App by Chunmao Wu and Tian Gao, designed for Donghua University. The award was conferred within the 2020 - 2021 A' Design Award & Competition and was decided through blind peer review by an international grand jury panel of established academics, design professionals and press members, who evaluated anonymized entries against predetermined criteria.

What the Golden A' Design Award Means

The Gold A' Design Award is granted to designs that demonstrate a high level of innovation and a significant impact on their intended audience. Recognized as a major achievement by the A' Design Awards, these designs are characterized by their visionary approach and the exceptional skill of their creators. Winners of the Gold A' Design Award are noted for their ability to push the envelope in art, science, design, and technology, delivering solutions that not only meet but exceed expectations. These designs serve as benchmarks for excellence, encouraging further innovation and inspiring future generations of designers.

Regarding M Genius Visualized Mathematical App

M Genius is a mobile and desktop application that visualizes mathematical functions for young students. The interface has four areas: Point, Curve, Weave and Result. Users select an equation from the categories or enter an equation directly. The shape of the curve changes when the parameters X, Y, N and Z are adjusted, and the result is shown on the screen. The parametric shapes can also be produced with a 3D printer in ABS material. M Genius turns abstract symbols into visible forms to make the study of mathematics clearer and more engaging.

Award Record

This recognition makes Chunmao Wu and Tian Gao a winner of 1 A' Design Award.

About the A' Interface, Interaction and User Experience Design Award

The A' Interface Design Award is an international design competition recognizing good user interface designs by the best UI/UX designers worldwide. The competition is organized within the A' Design Award & Competition and is open to interface designers, interaction designers, user experience designers and digital product designers from all countries. Entries typically include websites, mobile applications, software interfaces, game interfaces, wearable interfaces and virtual reality interfaces. Awarded interface designs are published at https://designers.org/design-category/interface

About A' Design Award & Competition

A' Design Award & Competition is an international, juried design accolade organized annually since 2008. The competition is open to entries from all countries. The A' Design Award has a philanthropic mission to advance society through good design by recognizing and promoting superior products, projects and services that benefit society, and by creating a global awareness and appreciation for good design practices and principles. Entries are peer reviewed and anonymously evaluated by an international grand jury panel of established academics, design professionals and press members against predetermined criteria such as functionality, ergonomics, engineering, presentation, innovation, usability, sustainability and technology, with score normalization applied to remove biases. Awards are conferred at Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Iron levels. The A' Design Prize granted to eligible laureates includes the award trophy, the certificate of design excellence, the hardcover yearbook, a lifetime license to use the A' Design Award winner logo, exhibition of awarded works, an invitation to the gala night and award ceremony in Italy, inclusion in the World Design Rankings and Designer Rankings, and public relations and publicity services. Registration, the upload of a work and the preliminary score are free of charge, and Professional and Digital Edition laureates are not contractually obliged to pay further fees to claim the A' Design Prize. Design Details

Unique Properties
This is a visualized mathematical function application, which using parametric method in application to make the boring math symbols to be interesting parametrical shapes. The properties are as follows. 1.Users can adjust mathematical parameters to understand mathematical functions. 2.Visualizing mathematical functions can increase your interest in learning. 3.Gamification fostered an interest in learning the logic of mathematical functions.
Inspiration
Learning mathematics is a big challenge for some young students all over the world. why? 1. Math symbols are boring! 2. Be confused by the logic! Why not change students' cognition through design to make it easy for them to learn mathematics.
Research
Background: Learning mathematics is a big challenge for some young students all over the world. Methods:1. Based on the general parametric design process and the positive experience design, a parametric product design hypothesis model based on positive experience is proposed. 2. On the basis of the design method model, the design practice is developed. Result: A visualized mathematical function application has been designed. Impacts:We put out a new way for students, through the interaction and application of mathematical functions and images, the interest and efficiency of participants in learning mathematical knowledge can be improved.
Challenge
1. Build a parameterized interaction design guided by users' positive experience; 2. Built-in system construction, program operation vulnerabilities need to be constantly improved; 3. The user experience of the interface needs to be constantly optimized. 4. How much the final works improving the positive experience of users?
Realization and Technology
In the perspective of method, this design adopts the positive design method to think about how to improve students' pleasure in learning mathematics through the design thinking. The author selects the parametric method to visualize the abstract function. In the perspective of technology, this design is an Internet app, which used Java and XML for programming, Adobe Illustrator for visual interface design, Figma for interaction design, and 3D printer for function visualization of ABS material etc. This work realizes the interaction with students through the pad, computer and mobile phone.
Operation and Interaction
1. This is an APP that can learn functions by adjusting function unknowns and controlling function image changes. 2. There are four areas of categories on the interface: Point, Curve, Weave, and Result. 3. Two approaches: (a) selecting the equation in the categories, (b) entering the equation by yourself. 4. The shapes of functional curve are changed via entering the parameters of X, Y, N, and Z in the equation. Then, the final shape will be shown on the screen. 5. After you enter or select the different parameters and equations, you will get amazing parametrized shapes, and then it can be printed by 3D printer.
Project Duration and Location
The project started in March 2020 in Shanghai and finished in December 2020 in Shanghai, and was exhibited in Shanghai in January 2021.
Specifications
The interface design is simple, modern, beautiful and high-tech, the interaction design is friendly and sustainability, and the results are amazing. It is suitable for the use needs of young people.
Keywords
Parametric Interaction, Mathematical Function, Application Interface, Positive Experience
