FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COMO, Italy, April 23, 2021 /DesignNewswire/ A' Design Award & Competition has announced that Cube High Altitude Cleaning UAV Highrise Glass by Guangpeng Yue, designed for LuXun Academy of Fine Arts, has been granted the A' Design Award in the Robotics, Automaton and Automation Design category. The result belongs to the 2020 - 2021 A' Design Award & Competition and was reached through blind peer review by an international grand jury panel of established academics, design professionals and press members, who scored anonymized entries against predetermined criteria.

The A' Design Award Explained

The Iron A' Design Award is awarded to good designs that meet the rigorous professional and industrial standards set by the A' Design Awards. This recognition is reserved for works that demonstrate a solid understanding of design principles and show creativity within their execution. Recipients of the Iron A' Design Award are acknowledged for their practical innovations and contributions to their respective fields, providing solutions that improve quality of life and foster positive change. These designs are a testament to the skill and dedication of their creators, showcasing their ability to address real-world challenges through thoughtful design.

More About Cube High Altitude Cleaning UAV Highrise Glass

Cube is an unmanned aerial vehicle designed for cleaning the glass of high rise buildings. The omnidirectional aircraft has eight propellers and can rotate freely in the air. Onboard sensors determine the position and onboard computing determines the flight path. The square frame carries up to five separate cleaning modules, each with a water tank and surface nozzles. Small balls at the four corners help each module move across the glass. Solar panels recharge the modules during the operation. The design reduces the cost and the risk of manual cleaning at height.

Award Record

This recognition makes Guangpeng Yue a winner of 3 A' Design Awards. All of the awards belong to the 2020 - 2021 edition of the A' Design Award & Competition.

About the A' Robotics, Automaton and Automation Design Award

The A' Robotics Design Award is an international robotics design competition recognizing good robotics designs by robotics designers and engineers worldwide. The competition is organized within the A' Design Award & Competition and is open to robotics designers, automation engineers, robotics brands and robot manufacturers from all countries. Entries typically include industrial robots, medical robots, agricultural robots, domestic robots, autonomous vehicles and humanoid robots. Awarded robotics designs are published at https://designers.org/design-category/robotics

About A' Design Award & Competition

A' Design Award & Competition is an international, juried design accolade organized annually since 2008. The competition is open to entries from all countries. The A' Design Award has a philanthropic mission to advance society through good design by recognizing and promoting superior products, projects and services that benefit society, and by creating a global awareness and appreciation for good design practices and principles. Entries are peer reviewed and anonymously evaluated by an international grand jury panel of established academics, design professionals and press members against predetermined criteria such as functionality, ergonomics, engineering, presentation, innovation, usability, sustainability and technology, with score normalization applied to remove biases. Awards are conferred at Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Iron levels. The A' Design Prize granted to eligible laureates includes the award trophy, the certificate of design excellence, the hardcover yearbook, a lifetime license to use the A' Design Award winner logo, exhibition of awarded works, an invitation to the gala night and award ceremony in Italy, inclusion in the World Design Rankings and Designer Rankings, and public relations and publicity services. Registration, the upload of a work and the preliminary score are free of charge, and Professional and Digital Edition laureates are not contractually obliged to pay further fees to claim the A' Design Prize. Design Details

Unique Properties
Use Glass cleaner instead of High altitude practitioners to complete high risk operations. An omnidirectional helicopter with 8 propellers can rotate 360 degrees freely in the air. Each drone can pick up multiple modules back and forth, the part where the modules are removed can be charged by solar energy.
Inspiration
Using modern drone high altitude cleaning instead of traditional manual cleaning of high altitude glass can greatly reduce the cost of high altitude cleaning and reduce the risk of personnel falling from high altitude. Using the modular design concept, the drone can carry up to 5 cleaning modules to work together at a time.
Research
The design uses airborne sensors to determine location and airborne calculations to determine actions. An omnidirectional helicopter with 8 propellers can rotate 360 degrees in the air. The whole is a square frame, and there are six glass wiping modules that can be split into independent units at will. There are water tanks inside, the surface nozzles spray water. The four small balls on the four corners are convenient for moving when the glass is wiped.
Challenge
The form and integration of the function of the cabo module and the flight module.
Realization and Technology
Onboard sensors, onboard calculations, 8 axis lengthy, Solar charging.
Operation and Interaction
The Glass cleaner uses the airborne calculation standard path, sends the cleaning module to the glass of the high altitude building, starts the cleaning operation after freely rotating and positioning the next working platform. The back of the module provides continuous power to the solar panel. After completing the operation, the flight module retrieves the cleaning module.
Project Duration and Location
The project was launched in Shenyang, Liaoning Province in June 2020, and ended in Shenyang, Liaoning Province in December 2020.
Specifications
Body length 540mm width 540mm height 540mm.
Keywords
Glass cleaning, automation, modularization, solar electromagnetic panel.
