About Speech Bubbie Type Design

Speech Bubbie is a typeface designed for Latin letters and Chinese characters. The speech bubble is a graphic convention used in comic book dialogue, and letterforms also suggest emotion in writing. The connection between these two graphic elements led to a new structure for letters and characters based on the comic book form. Strokes are simplified into generic speech bubble shapes, while still following the direction of the original strokes, so readability is preserved. The typeface was first drawn by hand and then produced with vector software.
