More About Toolless Furniture
Toolless is a television cabinet designed for assembly without tools. The connectors are pre-inserted into the panels during production, so the panels are simply pressed or slid together. The connectors work by elastic deformation and allow repeated disassembly and reassembly, which extends the service life of the cabinet. The panels are packed in the order of assembly, and two-color panels show the inside and the outside clearly. Assembly takes about ten minutes. The cabinet measures 1400 by 395 by 450 millimeters and is shipped flat.

- Unique Properties
- Traditional panel furniture assembly often involves dealing with unlabeled panels, numerous screws, and complex instructions, all of which can make the task time-consuming for many people. The connector eliminates the need for tools, and "Toolless" panels are packaged in the sequence of assembly, ensuring that users can assemble their furniture in about 10 minutes.
- Inspiration
- "Toolless" also champions sustainability. It allows for repeated disassembly and assembly without causing damage to furniture, which extends the furniture's lifespan and prevents waste of resources. Finally, "Toolless" refines furniture structures and adopts flat packaging, resulting in improved time and cost efficiencies for manufacturers.
- Research
- The installation of traditional panel furniture is more complicated, and professionals are required to arrange packaging without error. Our TOOLLESS cabinet brings the most simple and understandable packaging to users, so that our cabinets can be reused many times. The key technology is its connector, in our research, we tried many new materials and new processes, and finally selected plastic connector, the structure is strong, stable, low-cost, and it is reusable.
- Challenge
- Repeated adjustment of composite materials, and finally find the most suitable hardness, in order to guide users to install quickly, the cabinet uses two-color plates, which can allow users to intuitively distinguish the inside and outside of the cabinet. Through the repeated study of our structure, we have solved its stability problem.
- Realization and Technology
- TOOLLESS cabinets use connectors that pre-insert panels at the production stage, allowing users to simply press or slide panels together to complete assembly. This connector uses the principle of elastic deformation and can be repeatedly disassembled and reassembled, thereby extending the service life of the furniture. This feature makes it suitable for repositioning or correcting assembly errors. In addition, TOOLLESS uses sequential packaging and combines a logical modular assembly process to greatly improve the user experience.

- The modern style TOOLLESS cabinet can be matched with a variety of home environments, which supports the user to disassemble the furniture several times when moving, in order to extend the service life of the product.

- The project began in November 2023 in Shenzhen, China, and ended in April 2024 in Shenzhen, China, with an exhibition at Paris Maison & Objet Bally in August 2024.
