Design Details
- Unique Properties
- This design is a tribute to the classics and a development of the new era, connecting the past and the future. We added the concept of circular design, which is flexible, upgradeable, and repairable. This flexibility also better suit the preferences of the new vinyl record fan group in the new era.
- Inspiration
- Since 2020, the market for vinyl records has revived. In 2023, the Global Music Report released by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) showed that global physical record growth reached 13.4%, exceeding streaming for the first time in history, which inspired our design. This revival brought completely different fans to vinyl records than in the previous century. Gen Z has become loyal fans. Based on the new market demand, we designed this vinyl record player.
- Research
- We conducted extensive research and interviews to investigate a large number of consumers' consumption intentions about purchasing vinyl record players. At a time when digital music is the mainstream, the market size of physical records is often overlooked by the public. However, in fact, since 2020, the market for vinyl records has gradually begun to revive, which has been confirmed by professional research data and market feedback, giving us great confidence in designing this product.
- Challenge
- The biggest challenge is to integrate the concept of circular design while paying tribute to the classic design, and at the same time to meet the aesthetic and consumption psychology of the new consumer groups in the new era, so that this design can become a classic of the new era, be environmentally friendly, and make users feel easy to use and comfortable.
- Realization and Technology
- T400 is a tribute to the classics and a development of the new era. The integrated design breaks through the vinyl record players' traditional wooden box design. The simplified operation and hidden suspension shock absorption system greatly enhance the experience.Circular design concept makes it flexible, upgradeable, and repairable, which better fits the preferences of the new era enthusiasts.
- Operation and Interaction
- It supports 33/45 speed adjustment, and can play most types of vinyl records such as 7-inch, 10-inch, and 12-inch. It has a two-way Bluetooth mode and a built-in battery making it free from the constraints of the power cord. The Audio-Technica AT-3600L moving magnet cartridge has a good sound pickup effect, can accurately capture more detailed sounds of the record, and tries to achieve extremely low distortion. The double-sealed cavity speaker presents professional-grade stereo performance.
- Project Duration and Location
- The project started in June 2023 in Shenyang, ended in February 2024 in Shenyang, and was launched in China in March 2024.
