What the Bronze A' Design Award Means

The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality. It recognizes the dedication and skill of designers who produce work that stands out for its thoughtful development and innovative use of materials and technology. These designs are acknowledged for their professional execution and potential to influence industry standards positively. Winning this award highlights the designer's ability to blend form and function effectively, offering solutions that enhance people's lives and wellbeing.

Regarding Light In Dark Interior

This design uses a grey black palette to create spaciousness in a small unit. Storage is integrated through glass doors, a raised platform, and combination cabinet, while each room has independent lighting, breaking the single light limitation. Inspired by light in dark, amber accents add warmth. The layered lighting system adapts to different activities and times of day. Every material was chosen for its tactile quality. Challenges included avoiding dark tone oppression and balancing storage with openness. Fabrication combines carpentry and metalwork with a smart panel for scene modes.

Design Details

Unique Properties
This design differs from previous ones, as the designer has paired gray-black elements with various lighting effects to create distinct lighting atmospheres in different corners of the home, which is why it is named "Light in dark".
Inspiration
The designer created a modern and stylish design style for the homeowner. Gray-black materials, light and shadow, and metal elements are used to shape the overall coherence of the entire home. Amber tones are employed as a balancing element within the predominantly gray and dark color scheme.
Research
After understanding the homeowner's needs, the designer created a personalized design style for him—simple yet stylish. Although this unit is compact in size, it is perfectly sufficient for a single gentleman. Noting that the homeowner has few clothes but many collectibles, the designer designated the master bedroom as the primary storage space for clothing, while Room A serves as the homeowner's display area for collectibles. The living room, on the other hand, is used to showcase trophies, medals, and other collections.
Challenge
In the common perception, black and gray tones often evoke a sense of oppression and solidity. It is no easy task to retain these elements while designing a space that feels comfortable and inviting. However, through meticulous design and thoughtful planning, the designer has successfully addressed these challenges one by one.
Realization and Technology
Furniture design is constructed using elements such as fine-core plywood, ENF-grade boards, complemented by small amounts of steel, lighting effects, and fabric accents.
Operation and Interaction
The designer communicates with the homeowner to understand their needs and finalize the interior design style. After grasping the general requirements, the designer uses SketchUp to illustrate the overall home design for the client's clear understanding. Further planning is then carried out for every dimension of the furniture items, ensuring the homeowner lives more comfortably.
