About Punto Door Handle

Punto is a door handle designed for everyday doors. The form of Punto comes from research into historical handles and their shapes. The proportions follow a constant ratio of one to two, and this relation links all the geometries of the handle. Punto measures 150 by 60 by 50 millimetres. The handle is made by die casting in aluminium or in brass. Aluminium versions are powder coated, while brass versions are polished or chromed. The simplified shape helps the user read at once how the door is opened.

Award Record

This recognition makes Robby Cantarutti a winner of 3 A' Design Awards. The awards were granted between the 2016 - 2017 and the 2019 - 2020 editions of the A' Design Award & Competition.

Design Details

Unique Properties
the form of the handle in addition to being inspired by the "type" of the handle highlights a very important formal relationship, the geometries and the relationship between the parties are always like ½. the result is unique is almost a mathematical function where with this resulting form the elements that generate it can only be used. report 1/2 has given a good inspiration
Inspiration
the punto handle comes from a very apprfonded research on historical handles and their shapes. many handles have been analyzed which have had a big formal significance within the development of this item and after attentive sedimentation and overlapping of such shapes i have been able to take the shape of the point. this handle seems always existed in his being and it is just this the goal i was looking for: obtaining a classic form not starting from the classic but from development and a game o
Research
my design language is based on the search for the essential and in this case the objective has been centered
Challenge
a good result of the project is when the reading by the user is clear, for example a handle must read itself as an object that opens the door and it must be clear how it works. the simplification elaborated on this topic has in my opinion had a very good result
Realization and Technology
the handle is made in die-cast aluminum or brass molding, in the case of aluminum it is powder coated and enl brass case is cleaned / polished or chrome
Operation and Interaction
elementary function of a handle
Project Duration and Location
the project had a duration of a year and the research is developed on the formal history research of the handmade object
Keywords
simplification of the handle of a door
