Folded 01 Dinning Chair by Erno Dierckx Receives the Silver A' Design Award in Furniture Design
The international grand jury of the 2019 - 2020 A' Design Award & Competition recognizes Erno Dierckx for furniture design

About Folded 01 Dinning Chair
Folded 01 is a dining chair. The seat and back are formed from a single sheet of raw aluminium, bent by hand. The folded shape gives the chair rigidity and a natural bending effect that adds comfort. The aluminium sheet is mounted on a coloured steel frame, which provides a subtle colour detail. The design was inspired by the folding of a square paper note, which becomes rigid once folded. The chair measures 450 mm in width, 500 mm in depth and 800 mm in height. The aim was to return to the essence of the object with a minimal appearance.
About Erno Dierckx
Erno Dierckx is a recognized industrial designer. He started his carrier as design consultant. He guided various companies during the development of their innovative projects.Entrepreneurial mindset, and recognized for a hands on approach and creative ideas. In 2017 he presented his first furniture collection to show his own work. In 2019 he started his own design studio to cooperate with brands and develop successful products.

- Folded 01 is the latest design by Erno Dierckx.By experimenting with production methods a dinningchair was born. Erno Dierckx tries to challenge the way excitingchairs are constructed and goes back to the essence of the product. The object has a minimalistic yet sophisticated look. The chair consists out of honestand durable materials with a subtle color detail.
- Inspiration
- The idea started while playing with a post-it note used to right down ideas. By folding the square sheet a rigid shape arises. This technique was used to construct a chair. The folded chair consists out of a raw aluminum sheet bend by hand and mounted on a colored steel frame.

- The main challenge was te find a reliable folding technique with a minimal and beautiful appearance
