Interviews with GarryVeda design Bureau
Designer profileDesigner of the Day Interview
5 May 2020
As you remember, we are a team of 5 so this question should be split among team members. Some of them, like our Art Director Olga Pargevian, are in design from their childhood and then later with special design education at the University, etc. Personally me (Garry Veda) so I have a Master Degree in Design&Construction with a technical focus and was aiming to develop the space-ships, but something went wrong (:)) so I got several years expertise in Cinema Special Effects creation when I participated in visuals creating for domestic and Hollywood films. And so evolutionarily we had met together and now our design Bureau is a family-owned enterprise with superior quality of graphics and professional understanding of both design and marketing.
Our unique framework platform (named "AntHill") was developed especially to meet the challenges of the modern market worldwide both for fast terms, ultra high quality & easy smooth handling of every nuance of every client task. This includes Adobe platform (Illustrator&Photoshop), 3ds max + Vray, Cinema 4D and dozens of custom sropts&softwarewidely used in Cinema Special Effects creation and designed to automate and simplify the routine procedures and also to link all staff to manage all teammates to work over every newly created artwork version together at the same turnaround with seeing the development progress in real-time while editing the layouts, vectors, raster layers, 3D output, render RAW, etc. like the orchestra is playing a symphony.
A joy. Really... and I hope all our teammates too. You see, the design always carries a feeling. Even the tears:) But the feeling above is always a joy. Design is a joyful process.
The main suggestion for a young coming designer is to learn more. It is not enough to have the drawing skill only. You need an enhanced mind with a lot of knowledge there to compete in the modern digital World.
I could describe the day in studio life: We meet at 12 PM and have either the working briefing or the brain-storming, depends on the working-table calendar. After we work according to our "AntHill" framework procedures with switching the task in every 2 hours, this allows the designers' minds to be engaged in the most efficient way. Every 2 hours we have a short briefing to lead the process, and several checkpoints, regimented for today. Sure we remember to have fun and laugh and communicate friendly being rather the family than a traditional enterprise. Usually, GarryVeda Bureau works till 7-8 PM but sometimes there are deadlines&overtimes so we live in the studio.
Oh... design is the art and technology at the same time. When you see a beautiful final image you can't believe there are tones of coding, algorithms, framework-methods inside implemented by hours of math & drawing efforts being mixed together. The question is what feelings and emotions design evokes. And then it's level of implementation, technical points, etc. But the feeling, like the shot, which makes the design pop among others is the basement. Of course, the design is the working tool so it should function well according to all the brief tasks & points. But it should transfer this shot-feeling, otherwise, it does not work properly.
Design Interview

The design was inspired by old-school packaging retro-imaginary and vintage solutions produced for decorative and architectural tasks by previous generations of artists in Western Europe. All the layout key-elements, engraved fruits images, and fonts selection were consolidated into the holistic structure being a retro-styled but easily recognizable as a modern product at the same time.
The design solution was achieved by layout visual structure hierarchy for the texts and illustrative elements to be linked flawlessly together and transfer the main marketing points. Design is created in the so-called modernized retro/vintage style with a feeling of old-school notes so master-pharmacist touch anticipation holds the customer from a first glance and later while the detailed observation of principal design elements coded into a holistic structure transferring the main marketing point: this product is developed by a pharmacist craft-professional company and contains hand-made pharmacist secret recipe inside.
We have no special plans. Definitely, we will inform our regular clients about our team's win. What would you suggest?
The project was started in July 2019 and consisted of several parts with over 2 months overall duration as there were also a lot of additional SKUs developed on further stages.
This design was developed for GreenRevolution Co. (USA) and they use this design on the packaging of their products.
The Target Audience are US citizens, over 21, who are looking for a modern way of medication and relax.
This design was developed according to team-framework named "AntHill" when all 5 team members were working at the same time over each layout and image on parallel threads.
We tried to achieve this unique feeling in the packaging when you hold the product and understand this is really what you were looking for. The lucky combination of engraving graphics, modernized retro layout, and thoroughly selected fonts makes the matter.
Core working: The Art Director Olga Pargevian and Team Lead Garry Veda.
The new world challenges the role of pure artists in design. Now the designer needs the same technical skills background (I mean mathematics, algorithms, coding/programming) as he has the drawing skills. There are no pure artists in design now, the digital era is coming.
Our design Bureau was invited by email for another design to nominate. After discussing we decided to change the entry for this one as we believed this was a star-design :)
I believe that skills and expertise are growing when you train them. So every bit of work and every even usual task are creating the foundation for your future level. This is important to be attentive to trifles and find new technologies faster. So the main job experience: don't stop working.

GarryVeda design Bureau focuses on branding (logo) and packaging/label design creation. Of course, we have expertise in web-design, print-design, industrial design, 3D, etc. But our team favorites are still packaging and logo design creation works.
The main suggestion for a young coming designer is to learn more. It is not enough to have the drawing skill only. You need an enhanced mind with a lot of knowledge there to compete in the modern digital World. New world challenges made this list a little bit another way than this had been used to think before. Now the designer needs the same technical skills background (I mean mathematics, algorithms, coding/programming) as he has the drawing skills. This is: be meticulous in even every pixel. And details, you know... you request a really good designer the price for the task you need and he will always answer you in detail, showing the successful cases, attaching the briefs and informative materials, etc. The usual designer will answer the price only.
The matter makes what feelings and emotions a design evokes. And then – its level of implementation, technical points, etc. But the feeling, like the shot, which makes the design pop among others is the basement. Of course, the design is the working tool so it should function well according to all the brief tasks & points. But it should transfer this shot-feeling, otherwise, it does not work properly.
Our team's secret ingredient is our unique special developed framework named "AntHill". Working according to our own framework allows GarryVeda design Bureau© to manage all teammates to work over every artwork together at the same turnaround with seeing the development progress in real-time while editing the layouts, vectors, raster layers, 3D output, render RAW, etc. like the orchestra is playing a symphony. We are extremely fast in high-quality visuals production. Usually, we manage to develop 20+ versions for the 1st stage (concept creation phase) so the client sees his "own Pinterest" where his product is performed in different styles and variations. Of course, the central point of the development obviously is the style requested by you via the brief (exactly an imaginary you had grown in the mind) and at the same time, there is a much wider range of great possible solutions presented on every stage than other working methods could propose.
Really, we love all our designs so this would be unfair to split them. Let's say our favorite design is the one we are working now:) Our team always produces several different projects on parallel threads not to be discouraged by the monotony of projects so this is always fun to switch and to feel a new love on the screen.
This is God's Grace to me.
Usual project flow we propose for the packaging/label design:
- initial stage (1st stage): we prepare 25+ versions based on our understanding of the task you set. This takes up to 7 working days.
- development stage: we and you discuss the direction based on 1st stage raw made. So 1-3 versions will be chosen for 2nd stage development. Here the terms depend on your feedback speed.
- finalization stage (or several): last polishing tunings are applied here.
- common happiness, with a - lifetime warranty worldwide for the vector files our team proposes for our clients.

We start with in-studio brainstorming to discuss the brief client provided. Here are the principal point discussed, staff involvement planned, road-map created, etc.
Technology is the roadway to design the future, I guess. The demand for visual quality is growing drastically; humankind is staying on the visual revolution edge with all these Virtual Realities and hi-resolution screens, electronic paper, etc. The role of the drawing is being harder mixed with the role of algorithms, mathematics, coding.
Our unique framework platform (named "AntHill") was developed especially to meet the challenges of the modern market worldwide both for fast terms, ultra high quality & easy smooth handling of every nuance of every client task. Our team focuses on packaging/label design so there is an extremely important role play both colors, material, shape, etc. This is rather an applicable mix of different art-segments than pure visual art design in our field.
Yes, I believe. My business and art partner is my cousin Olga Pargevian. This is the best way of design creation – working together over the task.

We are the family-owned design Bureau located in Ukraine (Eastern Europe) organized by me (Garry Veda), my cousin Olga Pargevian, and my wife. Our team has more than 12 years of working together fun and we consistently increase our expertise level with a growing demand for our work among Western World countries clients. For now, you can find our design on the supermarket shelves in at least 50 countries worldwide. We love our profession, the process of creation and with every project we begin, we always keep our core vision in mind. Because we have a mission above: to create a one-of-kind piece of art, that will forever, be timeless in design. We believe that a timeless design with superior aesthetics, can not only stand the test of time but also leave a great impact on the world.
Our design Bureau focuses on the most challenging field of the design application, we produce the brand and packaging design as we believe the future is rather for those with extra-expertise in the narrow highly sought segment than for others with a wide (de-facto none) range design skills.

Oh... design is the art and technology at the same time. When you see a beautiful final image you can't believe there are tones of coding, algorithms, framework-methods inside implemented by hours of math & drawing efforts being mixed together. Our team implemented the unique technological framework named "AntHill", including in-studio methods & procedures, specialized software & tools also as special sequential stages process, etc. allowing us to handle this complex task of brand/packaging design creation with all these modern World challenges and the growing requirements to visuals quality & fullness. Really we are coding visuals into feelings!
We focus on branding (logo) and packaging/label design creation. Of course, we have the expertise in web-design, print-design, industrial design, 3D, etc. But our team favorites are still packaging and logo design creation works.

This was a billboard for the vodka brand in 2000. A quite nice realistic scene created in 3ds max, it was new in those days. There was a fun case during the process when bright RGB colors become dull on CMYK printing, so this was a first technology lesson for me when I was trying to explain this color difference to the client who wanted the same shining billboard in life as it was on my screen after Vray-rendering.
Our unique framework platform (named "AntHill") was developed especially to meet the challenges of the modern market worldwide both for fast terms, ultra high quality & easy smooth handling of every nuance of every client task. This includes Adobe platform (Illustrator&Photoshop), 3ds max + Vray, Cinema 4D and dozens of custom sropts&software widely used in Cinema Special Effects creation and designed to automate and simplify the routine procedures and also to link all staff to manage all teammates to work over every newly created artwork version together at the same turnaround with seeing the development progress in real-time while editing the layouts, vectors, raster layers, 3D output, render RAW, etc. like the orchestra is playing a symphony.
At night:) We have got a major client from the US so also our working hours are moved forward to match a bit with the possibility to communicate with a voice. So we start working at 12 PM and work till7 PM usually. But the most creative moments are overtime&deadline rodeo with the night behind the window.
We have the strictly regimented process according to our "AntHill" framework so all the aspects have the appropriate check-points, etc. We focus on a brief task fulfilling with keeping in mind that we are creating a thing that will be found by archeologists in the far-far future, and they should be pleased too, not only the client now.
A joy. Really... and I hope all our teammates too. You see, the design always carries a feeling. Even the tears:) But the feeling above is always a joy. Design is a joyful process.
A joyful winning feeling, of course. But I can't stop and continue thinking of what could be improved more and more. And you know, sometimes we sent the updates to the client even after the project finalization. Perfectionism makes us crazy sometimes.
This question is out of human understanding. This is God's Grace and His Gift. People are just conductors. So we could feel after but cannot know in advance.
What feelings and emotions design evokes. And then on its level of implementation, technical points, etc. But the feeling, like the shot, which makes the design pop among others is the basement. Of course, the design is the working tool so it should function well according to all the brief tasks & points. But it should transfer this shot-feeling, otherwise, it does not work properly.
We believe that a timeless design with superior aesthetics, can not only stand the test of time but also leave a great impact on the world having the educational goals, now living generations shaping aesthetic taste goals and self-expression joy for those people who love, use and live with products dressed in our designs.
Technology is the roadway to design the future, I guess. The demand for visual quality is growing drastically;humankind is staying on the visual revolution edge with all these Virtual Realities and hi-resolution screens, electronic paper, etc. The role of the drawing is being harder mixed with the role of algorithms, mathematics, coding.
Oh, there was none still. I hope we will continue this good tradition to show our works to the public and to participate in Awards & Competitions...
Creation is God's Grace. So this is very necessary to keep your soul in the right condition. I think a person of the modern world being the designer or not should read, see, watch, discover all the informative channels with a clean and crystal task: make the civilization a little bit better.
With every project we begin, we always keep our core vision in mind. Yes, sure we are the business. Yes, sure the client needs are the points to be solved as our work result. Understanding our client's needs is the first step our team takes to turn an idea into a work of art. So the style is to fit the task. Different tasks, different styles, we are the professionals.
All our team members live in Ukraine now. I don't think the country's cultural heritage makes the tone in our designs. Despite the fact that the Ukrainian language is the one among the most beautiful languages in the world... maybe the art is somehow in Ukrainians this way, don't know... I this that art&culture world is common in the 21st century, so we bring international aesthetics with our design Bureau works.
We developed a convenient project flow to handle the task of outsourcing works. There are the briefing procedures, the possibility for the communications via any messenger system client needs, using English voice& video calls, deposit online security service, etc. Really, Western world companies feel we are rather a next-door than a far-far country contractor.
I think the best way to select a good designer is to request the price for any task from him. Professionals with great expertise will always answer you in detail, showing the successful cases, attaching the briefs and informative materials, etc. The usual designer will answer the price only.
Working according to our own framework allows GarryVeda design Bureau© to manage all teammates to work over every newly created artwork version together at the same turnaround with seeing the development progress in real-time while editing the layouts, vectors, raster layers, 3D output, render RAW, etc. like the orchestra is playing a symphony. The main suggestion for a young coming designer is to learn more. It is not enough to have the drawing skill only. You need an enhanced mind with a lot of knowledge there to compete in the modern digital World.
I would say the positives: you have a joy of creation, so-called a heaven-touch; you work in an aesthetic environment with interesting and attractive tasks.
Negatives: clients could kill the honey with one feedback, and you still need to make what they want despitetheywantedwrong things.

To create a good design as to ourteam mind– you need a great mood, full Adobe platform software, 3ds max + Vray, Cinema4D, camera, wacom, pencil, hands:)
Our special framework is designed to manage the most rational staff involvement for all the tasks to be performed flawlessly and in time. The flexible process allows us to find the best solution for working staff engagement and rational working resource distribution while handling every image by every teammate of the working group. This is what I call the experience + expertise + right implementation methods.

Our clients are Nescafe, Vinamilk, LitezAll, GreenRevolution, ROSHEN, Nothing Water, Vengo, and others, more than a hundred...
Our team likes to produce a packaging design for food. This is really really fun! There are a lot of product categories in our Bureau's portfolio, but every food-design was a sweety:) Maybe we feel our importance the most when designing a prelude for the meal.
We would loke to expand our business and create more works next year and make new designs worth awarding again:)
We are the family-owned European team of 5 professionals, located in Ukraine (Eastern Europe) organized by me (Garry Veda), my cousin Olga Pargevian, and my wife.
Our team produces 5-8 new packaging designs per month so we always have the project in the beginning stage, the one at the middle stage, others on the finalization, etc. This is not boring and allows one to switch the mind over-channel feeling when needed.

Grand Interview
22 October 2025 · Secret Tarts Cannabis Infused Pills
Any Art that exists in the World belongs to Almighty God! He Is the Creator! We are thankful to Almighty God that He Made a Gift for us by Providing this beautiful design so we can share it with others.
The regulators focus primarily on ensuring that mandatory elements are present and easily readable, which is absolutely essential for consumer safety and compliance. We always prioritize meeting these requirements. However, we also believe that design can play a powerful role in shaping consumer perception and building brand loyalty. While we certainly appreciate modern design for its clean, minimalist aesthetic and its relevance to today’s market, we also have a passion for retro aesthetics. We believe that incorporating a retro style adds a unique charm and fosters a sense of trust, evoking the legacy of traditional products with rich histories. It tells a story of craftsmanship, heritage, and time-tested quality, which can be particularly compelling in the medical or wellness space. Given the nature of this product category, where consumers are often seeking reassurance and reliability, the retro style aligns perfectly with the positioning goals set by our client, creating a design that is both informative and emotionally engaging.
We found that illustrations were much more effective than photographs in conveying the sense of history we wanted. We wanted to create a visual narrative that spoke to the product's heritage and the care that goes into its creation. In a market that's flooded with images, illustrations offer a more unique and engaging way to tell that story. They stand out and give the product a unique character, inviting the consumer to take a closer look and discover the details. They contribute to this feeling of a handcrafted, almost artisanal product, which is exactly the impression we wanted to create, especially within the pharmaceutical context, where building trust and confidence is essential. The combination of those engraved fruit images, each carefully rendered to highlight their natural beauty, and our chosen typography, which is both elegant and readable, really reinforces that story of quality and craftsmanship.
Our 'Anthill' framework is a unique approach we've developed that emphasizes collaboration and iterative design. It's based on a multi-layered process. We start with initial sketching, brainstorming individually and as a team to explore a wide range of ideas. This isn't just quick scribbling; it's about visually exploring different directions and possibilities. We then move into creating individual elements and graphic solutions using design software, bringing those initial sketches to life digitally. But the key to the 'Anthill' is the constant back-and-forth. There are a lot of discussions and combinations along the way—internal reviews, feedback sessions, and collaborative refinement. We combine elements, discard others, and constantly iterate based on our collective insights. The result is that we give the client a wide range of initial concepts — usually around 25 different designs, encompassing various styles and approaches. We like to think of it as their own personal Pinterest board to get them started, giving them a broad overview of the possibilities and allowing them to actively participate in shaping the final direction.
We specifically chose a retro style because, frankly, the market is drowning in modern designs. We were seeing a lot of clean lines, flat colors, and sans-serif fonts, which, while effective in some contexts, just weren't going to make us stand out here. We needed something that would cut through the noise and grab attention. The retro style gave us the opportunity to inject a unique visual twist. For example, we incorporated elements like textured backgrounds, vintage-inspired typography, and a more illustrative approach to the imagery. These elements combined create a richer, more tactile experience that really makes the product pop in a very competitive environment. It's not just about being different; it's about creating a memorable and engaging experience for the consumer.
The materials were set by the client, so we had no room to make material variations. We understood that the client had specific reasons for choosing these materials, perhaps due to cost considerations, existing supply chains, or specific performance requirements. Therefore, our team adapted our design approach to work within these constraints. We concentrated on optimizing the use of the chosen materials through careful design and precise manufacturing processes to achieve the best possible outcome.Through God's Grace, we've been blessed with several successful design elements and graphic combinations. The application of our 'Anthill' framework allowed us to have a lot of great material to start with. We feel truly fortunate to have arrived at such a beautiful and fitting final design; it feels divinely inspired.
We chose a retro style because it offers a timeless appeal, conveying a sense of heritage and established quality. But we didn't want the design to feel dated. We wanted to make sure it felt contemporary and fresh. So, we adapted some of the classic retro design elements. The central frame is crucial because it acts as the primary visual anchor, clearly presenting the product name and its core characteristics in a clear and concise manner. This frame provides a sense of structure and order, making the information easy to digest. We then added a table element, inspired by vintage pharmaceutical packaging, to provide additional information in a structured and organized way. This also adds a subtle nod to the product's intended use. Finally, we used a dynamic, italicized font for the taste description. This font adds a touch of flair and personality, differentiating it from the more functional fonts used elsewhere on the packaging, enhancing the overall visual appeal and creating a unified design that is both informative and visually engaging.
We knew that entering a new market category meant we needed to create a really attractive offer for consumers, something that would immediately grab their attention and communicate the product's value. We believe that the beautiful design, paired with a high-quality product, achieves this. The retro style we chose is particularly effective in establishing the trust, authenticity, and quality that consumers look for in a medical product. For example, the use of classic typography and a muted color palette evokes a sense of tradition and reliability. The detailed illustrations, reminiscent of vintage apothecary labels, further enhance this feeling of authenticity, reassuring consumers that they are choosing a product with a proven heritage.
The central frame and the layout's overall construction were definitely key considerations. We knew from the start that fitting all the required information onto the front of the packaging would be a challenge. We had a significant amount of information that needed to be presented—not only the marketing messages but also essential regulatory information. Our focus was on creating a clear and structured design that wouldn't feel overloaded. This involved a lot of careful layout planning, including multiple iterations and revisions. We experimented with different grid systems, font sizes, and spacing to find the optimal balance between information density and visual clarity. We also conducted user testing to ensure that the final layout was easy to read and understand.
I definitely think this style has a lot of potential in this product category. The market for these types of products is growing significantly, and there are a lot of companies offering similar solutions, creating a very competitive landscape. What's interesting is that the medical aspect, which traditionally prioritized functionality over aesthetics, is now recognizing the importance of attractive and eye-catching visuals. Consumers are becoming more discerning and expect a higher level of design even in medical products. I believe the retro style is a great way to achieve that balance between functionality and visual appeal, and I think we'll see it used more widely as companies strive to differentiate themselves and connect with consumers on a deeper level.
