About Pulse Φωτιστική Εγκατάσταση

Το Pulse είναι μια φωτιστική εγκατάσταση που δημιουργήθηκε για το Φεστιβάλ Φαναριών της Ταϊβάν 2022 στο εθνικό πάρκο Weiwuying στο Kaohsiung. Η εγκατάσταση εκφράζει τις συναισθηματικές καταστάσεις των νέων μεταναστών μέσω φωτός και ήχου. Η κατασκευή είναι φτιαγμένη από χαλύβδινους σωλήνες, με πλέγμα ίνας στερεωμένο σε κάθε σωλήνα ανάμεσα σε έναν επάνω δακτύλιο και μια κυματιστή βάση. Λωρίδες φωτισμού LED ελέγχονται ψηφιακά ώστε να ακολουθούν τη μουσική υπόκρουση που συνθέθηκε ειδικά για το έργο. Το περίπτερο φωτίζεται το ηλιοβασίλεμα, και κάθε τριάντα λεπτά παρουσιάζεται μια τρίλεπτη παράσταση φωτός. Οι διαστάσεις του Pulse είναι 7 μέτρα πλάτος, 7,8 μέτρα βάθος και 5,8 μέτρα ύψος.

Unique Properties: Pulse incorporates digital technology with the organic form of structure to represent the emotional states. As the main lighting installation for the new immigrants theme, the lighting installation is located in the national Weiwuying park, Kaohsiung during the Taiwan Lantern Festival 2022.

Production Technology: The structure mainly employs steel tubes in different diameters, allocated adequately with structural loads. The fiber mesh is installed on each steel tube that connects the top ring and bottom waved structure. The LED light strip and the bottom steel structure are digitally controlled to match the background sounds.
Design Challenge: The most challenging aspect of this project is to integrate digital lighting with a physical steel structure. However, lighting scenarios and structural design were nicely coordinated to overcome the challenges.
Research: Pulse visualizes the emotional states of immigrants when they enter a new realm. It appears to be still, yet sometimes beats harshly and sometimes expresses slowly. Migrating to a new environment has all kinds of feelings, including hope, excitement, nervousness, fear, and joy. There are many to expect during the process, difficulties to deal with, and challenges to face. These emotional waves are critical elements of a new journey, yet unable to share with new neighbors. Therefore, in the theme of new immigrants, we express the emotional condition with digitalized lighting and music with the surface of the metamorphosed pulse wave.
Inspiration: The concept of Pulse is to digitize the emotional into light signal. The LED stripe coheres with the background music, which specifically created for this installation.

Operation Flow: The pavilion gets illuminated during the sunset moment. Then, the LED light stripe turns its color while the background sound starts. Once in thirty minutes, there are 3 minutes lighting show to express the emotional state of new immigrants.
