Το Engineering Renewal είναι ένα ακαδημαϊκό κέντρο ανταλλαγών που δημιουργήθηκε από την ανακαίνιση ενός μονώροφου κτιρίου νοσοκομείου στο Guigang. Η αρχική διάταξη τριών διαμερισμάτων διατηρείται, ενώ μια δακτυλιοειδής δοκός κάλυψης, ανεξάρτητοι χαλύβδινοι στύλοι, ένα σύστημα καλωδίων και ένας νέος διώροφος χώρος στηρίζουν τη δομή. Starting from the current construction technology and hospital culture, the old buildings are injected with fresh blood again, creating a dignified, friendly and concise new image of Academic Exchange Center for the whole hospital.

- Protection and development are always a pair of contradictions in urban construction, and traditional buildings are facing the same problems. Compared with other historical heritages, the protection of traditional buildings is more difficult and more difficult to be recognized by the public. Therefore, from the perspective of "activation" of traditional buildings and public space in the context of urban renewal, combined with the whole research and design experience of the academic exchange center project of Guigang people's Hospital of Guangxi, this paper analyzes and summarizes the strategy of "activation" of historical buildings based on the protection and current situation of representative historical and cultural buildings in Lingnan area.
