About 601 Silla de descanso

601 es una silla de descanso diseñada para interiores corporativos y residenciales. La tapicería oculta una sólida estructura de madera que sostiene los cojines del respaldo y del asiento. Dicha estructura se monta sobre una base de patas de madera elaborada artesanalmente. Los reposabrazos de madera se fijan a la estructura reforzada de la tapicería y a la base de patas mediante soportes de acero inoxidable. Las fuerzas ejercidas por el usuario se distribuyen entre cuatro elementos, lo que reduce los puntos de tensión y permite muchos años de uso. El diseño se inspira en la producción de mobiliario industrial de principios del siglo XX.

Unique Properties: The lounge chair finds its most unique feature on the structural design that generates comfort and sturdiness. The upholstery conceals a steady wood frame that supports both back and seating cushions. it is mounted and fix on top of a wood leg frame. The arm rest are connected to the upholstery back support and to the wood leg frame by stainless or aluminum hardware. This contemporary elegant design has the quality to minimize excessive stress point on the lounge chair to generating a better seating experience and many years of use.

Production Technology: Reinforced upholstery frame over handcrafted wood base. Wooden arms attached to reinforced upholstery frame on the back and to the wood leg frame by machine-made stainless-steel supports.
Design Challenge: The most challenging aspect in the design process was the prototyping tests. Lounge chairs require of many prototypes and tests to generate the desire comfort.
Research: the design is the result of many hours of research about:
the history of furniture during 1840-1930
The design movements from ornaments to functionalist design
the evolution of production methods from crafts to industrial.
Inspiration: While designing this modern lounge chair the main inspiration was early 1900 industrial furniture production. The design was thought out to be modern, elegant, and timeless. I was looking to create a lounge chair that can fit any corporate or residential environment.
Project Duration: the project was design in 6 months in Guatemala city during 2020
Operation Flow: This lounge chair design has the characteristic of distributing forces generated by the user into four elements. This means less stress point that can fail or brake.
