About Revolving Especie Sillón
Especie es un sillón giratorio diseñado tanto para interiores como para exteriores. El sillón está fabricado con madera maciza recuperada de demoliciones, que se lija y se barniza. La base giratoria es de acero. El asiento es de poliuretano de densidad media y está revestido con tejido náutico. La base es fija mientras que el asiento gira. El respaldo está inclinado para ofrecer confort y soporte al usuario. Se puede suministrar un banco tapizado como reposapiés. La forma sigue los volúmenes de madera maciza y las líneas definidas del mobiliario brasileño de la década de 1970.

- Unique Properties
- The Especie revolving armchair is a contemporary design element that is premised on sustainability through the reuse of demolition wood. It is a versatile and resistant piece of furniture - inspired by the best of Brazilian design from the 70's -, which adapts to both external and internal environments.

- Production Technology
- The Especie armchair is manufactured by reusing solid wood from demolition, going through the sanding and varnishing process. Its swivel base is made of steel and its seat, made of medium density polyurethane, is covered with nautical fabric.
- Design Challenge
- The biggest challenge of the project was during the execution process. The fittings between the metal base and the wooden seat should be made in a way that makes the product resistant, ergonomic and safe for the user.
- Research
- The research for the production of the Especie armchair began in the designer's passion for the features and materials used in the furniture developed in Brazil during the 70's. Rigid lines and solid wood were outstanding characteristics of this furniture. Allied to this, there was also the idea of sustainability and the reuse of demolition wood, such as peroba and Ipe wood, appeared as an alternative to make the project viable and with an even more special meaning.
- Inspiration
- The Especie revolving armchair was inspired by the creative force of Brazilian modern design from the 70's. The furniture produced at that time was characterized by the use of solid wood, its volumetry with striking lines, the furniture of the 70's prioritized defined and rigid features. Allied to this, the idea of sustainability and resignification of elements of disposal.
- Project Duration
- This project has started in November 2021 in Rio de Janeiro and finished in February 2022 in Rio de Janeiro.
- Operation Flow
- The armchair has a fixed base and swivel seat. Its backrest has the necessary inclination to offer ergonomics and comfort to the user. The armchair can also be sold with the upholstered bench for the footrests.
