About Dot Sofia Espacio para eventos, edificio residencial

Dot Sofia es un edificio de uso mixto destinado a eventos y a la vida urbana en Sofía, Bulgaria. La estructura, compuesta por dos volúmenes, alberga un espacio de arte contemporáneo y eventos, un restaurante de autor y unidades residenciales. Dot Sofia se emplaza en el histórico distrito del mercado, una zona vinculada desde hace mucho tiempo al comercio y descuidada en las últimas décadas. La fachada, realizada en acero oxidado, evoca la materialidad envejecida del barrio. Unas contraventanas de gran formato se abren y se cierran, siguiendo el ritmo de la vida del mercado. El edificio se terminó en 2023 y cuenta con una superficie construida bruta de 1576 metros cuadrados.

Unique Properties: Embedded in the urban complexity of the biggest street market in Sofia the simple two volume structure of DOT Sofia building manifests unexpected different faces and scales from the possible viewpoints. The hybrid program of intertwined contemporary art and events space; signature restaurant and design urban living are injected in the rather neglected historic heart of the city with the clear ambition to redirect its inevitable transformation. The rusted steel facade preserves the characteristic aged materiality of the area while the dynamics of the oversized shutters follow the rhythm of the market life.

Neglected for the past decades, it is now evolving into a multi-cultural melting pot. DOT Sofia aims to contribute to the rediscovery and evolution of this still hidden urban cultural area.
